An oscillating mechanism includes a first non-circular gear, a rotary cam and a slider. The first non-circular gear is a bi-lobe gear rotatable about an axis of the handle rotation. The rotary cam is rotatably mounted in the reel unit so as to be parallel with the first non-circular gear. The rotary cam includes a cam protrusion, and a multi-lobe second non-circular gear arranged so that a tooth corresponding to the minimum tip diameter of the second non-circular gear meshes with a tooth corresponding to the maximum tip diameter of the first non-circular gear. The number of teeth of the second non-circular gear is greater than that of the first non-circular gear. The slider is axially movably mounted to the spool shaft. The slider includes a cam groove engaging the cam protrusion. The present invention facilitates tight winding of fishing line in a shape closer to a cylindrical shape.

Spinning-reel oscillating device

A spinning reel handle assembly that does not expose a male threaded section to the outside includes a handle shaft portion, a cylindrical cover member, a cylindrical screw-threaded member and a cylindrical moveable member. The cylindrical cover member is mounted on an external circumference of a tip end section of the handle shaft portion. The cylindrical cover member is configured to cover at least a portion of an external circumference of the moveable member and an entire portion of the male threaded section of the cylindrical screw-threaded member on which the cylindrical moveable member is not mounted.

A spinning reel comprising a reel body including a rear wall and a side wall, a handle attached to the reel body, a spool connected to a forward portion of the reel body through a spool shaft to be reciprocable fore and aft relative to the reel body, and an oscillating mechanism mounted in the reel body. The oscillating mechanism includes a screw shaft driven by the handle, the screw shaft being insertable into the reel body through the rear wall, a slider engaged with a helical groove formed on the screw shaft and connected to the spool shaft, the slider being operable to convert rotation of the screw shaft to a reciprocating motion in a fore and aft direction of the reel body for transmission to the spool shaft, and guide rods fixed to the reel body for prohibiting displacement of the slider transversely of the screw shaft, the guide rods being insertable into the reel body through the rear wall.

A fishing reel supports at a front wall of a reel body, a spool, a rotary frame which has first and second arms, and a bail arm which is supported between the arms in a manner permitting it to be turned over between a position where the rotary frame rotates to wind a fishing line onto the spool and a position where the line is released. A control means is provided to turn over the bail arm from the line winding to the line releasing position, the control means having a control member positioned in proximity to an arm roller at the bail arm which retains the line at the line winding position, so that when an angler catches by his finger the line retained by the arm roller, he can operate the control member in association with the line catching action.

A spinning reel is provided with a rotary frame having a fishing line retainer reciprocally swingable between a line winding-up position and a line release position, a drive mechanism for driving the rotary frame, a spool for winding-up thereon a fishing line by rotation of the rotary frame driven by the drive mechanism, a first anti-reverse-rotation mechanism having a plurality of teeth, a second anti-reverse-rotation mechanism having one tooth corresponding to the position where the line retainer is optimally adapted for inverse swinging motion, and a release mechanism for allowing the first anti-reverse-rotation mechanism to rotate in reverse when the drive mechanism reversely rotates the rotary frame.

Spinning reel

A dragging device for a spinning reel, which applies a rotational resistance to a spool shaft carrying a spool. The dragging device includes a first drag mechanism including first dragging members non-rotatable relative to the reel body, second dragging members rotatable together with the spool shaft, and a first adjusting member for causing the first and second dragging members to make press-contact with each other to apply an adjustable dragging force to the spool shaft. The dragging device further includes a second drag mechanism provided with third dragging members non-rotatable relative to the reel body, fourth dragging members rotatable together with the spool shaft, and a second adjusting member for causing the third and fourth dragging members to make press-contact with each other to apply an adjustable dragging force to the spool shaft. Each adjusting member applies to the spool shaft through the first and second drag mechanisms a dragging force which may be adjusted independently of each other. The rotational resistance applied to the spool shaft therefore includes the sum of the dragging forces applied by each drag mechanism.

Dragging device for a spinning reel

A dragging device for a spinning reel applies a rotational resistance to a spool shaft which carries a spool for winding up a fishing line. The dragging device includes a first drag mechanism provided with first dragging members connected to the reel body, second dragging members connected to the spool shaft and rotatable together with the spool shaft, and an adjusting member for bringing these dragging members into press-contact with each other to adjust the dragging force applied to the spool shaft. The dragging device also includes a second drag mechanism provided with a rotary member rotatable with respect to the spool shaft, third dragging members connected to the rotary member, fourth dragging members connected to the spool shaft and rotatable in association with the spool shaft, and a press-contact member to bring all of the dragging members into press-contact with each other. The dragging device also includes a locking mechanism for locking the rotary member to the reel body, thereby preventing the line from being snapped due to a sudden pull by a fish.

A supporting device which supports an arm roller to an arm cam at a spinning reel, the arm roller being supported rotatably to the arm cam in relation of being subjected to a load acting on the arm roller slantwise with respect to the axis of rotation thereof.

A spinning type fishing reel having a bail arm which is rotatably mounted at both ends thereof to diametrically opposite sides of a rotary frame so that an intermediate portion of the bail arm may turn over and pass across the front of a spool in swinging motion between two positions where a fishing line is respectively guided to be wound up, and released. The point around which the bail arm swings is made movable longitudinally of the reel, thereby allowing the bail arm to be turned over by elongating the distance between a crest of the intermediate portion of the bail arm and the basic position where the arm is supported for guiding therethrough the line to be wound onto the spool.

Spinning type fishing reel

Disclosed is an arrangement for shifting a bail arm in a longitudinal direction relative to the spool of a spinning type fishing reel. A spinning type fishing reel generally has a bail arm mounted at both its opposite ends around a rotary frame so that an intermediate portion of the arm is swingable across the front of a spool. The swing axis of respective ends of the bail arm are made slant backwardly of the reel with respect to a plane lying perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotary frame so that the intermediate portion may, when swinging, be shifted radially forwardly of the spool.
