The invention relates to a capacitive position encoder (), comprising at least one capacitor with a first capacitor plate and a second capacitor plate, a dielectric modulator that is movably arranged between said first capacitor plate and said second capacitor plate, a signal source () for providing a phase-shifted excitation signal to the first capacitor plate of said at least one capacitor, and a charge amplifier () that is electrically connected to the second capacitor plate of said at least one capacitor, wherein a feedback loop () of the charge amplifier () comprises a feedback capacitor (C), wherein the capacitive position encoder () also comprises a shock cancellation circuit () that forms a parallel circuit with the feedback loop () including the feedback capacitor (C) and that the shock cancellation circuit () comprises a low pass filter ().

The invention relates to a process for digital, bidirectional data transmission between a processing unit and a position encoder, as based on the transmission of frames of a predetermined bit length, such that each frame is provided with at least an initial bit length for the transmission of data from the processing unit to the position encoder and at least a second bit length for the transmission of data from the position encoder to the processing unit; and such that the frame is provided with a time slot in which data is neither transmitted from the processing unit to the position encoder nor from the position encoder to the processing unit. In the time slot a triggering signal (external sync signal) is transmitted from the processing unit to the position encoder and this triggers the acquisition of position data. In the first bit length, a clock signal for synchronizing the processing unit and the position encoder is transmitted from the processing unit to the position encoder, and after the acquisition of position data triggered by the external sync signal, the acquired position data is transmitted from the position encoder to the processing unit. Between the transmission of two successive external sync signals at least one additional position-data request signal (internal sync signal) is transmitted from the processing unit to the position encoder, and this signal triggers another acquisition of position data, which is followed by the transmission of the acquired position data from the position encoder to the processing unit.

Process for digital, bidirectional data transmission

The invention relates to a method for synchronizing a bi-directional transmission of data between a transmitter and a receiver based on the transmission of frames () having a predefined bit length, with a predefined first bit length () being provided in each frame () for the transmission of data from the transmitter to the receiver and a predefined second bit length () for the transmission of data from the receiver to the transmitter, with a trigger pulse () being sent to the receiver parallel to and independently from the transmission of the data between the transmitter and receiver, which pulse triggers a data collection process at the receiver, wherein the frame () has a time slot (), during which no information is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver and also not from the receiver to the transmitter, and wherein the trigger pulse () is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver during this time slot ().
