A packing method and unit to pack articles, includes: moving first seats by a first conveyor and second seats by a second conveyor along first and second paths at first and second moving speeds, respectively; and cyclically transferring an article from a first seat to a second seat in a transfer station. The first seats and second seats each designed to house an article. During normal operation with no rejected articles, the first moving speed is functionally equal to the second moving speed, and the same number of first and second seats pass through the transfer station in a given time interval. Where at least one article is rejected in a first seat, the second moving speed is functionally decreased relative to the first moving speed so that two first seats (one containing the rejected article) passes through the transfer station in the time interval as one second seat.

A packet of smoking articles and method for manufacturing the same, wherein the packet comprises: a group of smoking articles; a wrapping, which encloses the group of smoking articles and that comprises an extraction opening, defined by an edge, for extracting the smoking articles from the wrapping; a closing label, which is fixed to the wrapping and that is mobile between a closing position, in which it closes the extraction opening, and an opening position, in which the access to the group of smoking articles is allowed; a covering element, which is fixed to the closing label and that faces and covers the extraction opening when the closing label is in the closing position.

A packer machine and wrapping method to produce a pack of smoking articles; the packer machine has: a first wrapping drum, which supports a first wrapping pocket, which is adapted to receive a first blank and subsequently a group of smoking articles; a first feeding station, in which the first blank is inserted into the first wrapping pocket; a first transfer station, which is arranged downstream of the first feeding station and in which the group of smoking articles is inserted into the first wrapping pocket; a second wrapping drum, which supports at least one second wrapping pocket, which is adapted to receive a second blank and subsequently an inner container, which is formed by folding the first blank; a second feeding station, in which the second blank is inserted into the second wrapping pocket; a second transfer station, which is arranged downstream of the second feeding station and in which the inner container is inserted into the second wrapping pocket; and a third wrapping drum, which supports at least one third wrapping pocket, which is adapted to directly receive the inner container from the first wrapping pocket in a third transfer station arranged between the first wrapping drum and the third wrapping drum and is adapted to release the inner container directly to the second wrapping pocket in the second transfer station, which is arranged between the third wrapping drum and the second wrapping drum.

Packer machine and wrapping method to produce a pack of smoking articles provided with two rigid containers inside one another

In a unit by which groups of cigarettes are packed in rigid type packets, the single packet is fashioned from a flat diecut blank folded around the group. An assembly consisting of one blank and one group is directed along a predetermined path and conveyed ultimately into a folding station with the blank still presenting two lateral flaps to be bent over and flattened; the station comprises two folders each presenting a fixed shoe of helical geometry around which a belt is looped slidably and positioned to engage a respective lateral flap as the assembly advances along the relative folding path, the active branch of the loop running in a direction concurrent with that of the advancing assemblies.
