The present invention relates to an insert piece for a blood tubing set that includes a first connection site for connecting a first tubing portion of the blood tubing set to the insert piece; a second connection site for connecting a second tubing portion of the blood tubing set to the insert piece; a third connection site for connecting a third tubing portion of the blood tubing set to the insert piece; a first main line for conducting a first liquid through the insert piece; a second main line for conducting the first liquid through the insert piece; a secondary line for conducting a second liquid into at least one of the first main line, and the second main line; and a connection portion which connects both main lines to each other or to the second connection site.

Dialyzer systems can consolidate multiple technologies and functionalities of blood treatment systems in a significantly integrated fashion. For example, this disclosure describes dialyzer systems that include a magnetically driven and magnetically levitating pump rotor integrated into the dialyzer. Such a dialyzer can be used with treatment modules that include a magnetic field-generating pump drive unit. In some embodiments, the dialyzers include pressure sensor chambers with flexible membranes with which corresponding pressure transducers of the treatment modules can interface to detect arterial and/or venous pressures.

The annular housing is configured to be rotatable about the inside part so as to function as a valve, so that by rotation of the annular housing, flow paths of the connecting device can be opened and closed.

A device to promote heat exchange to/from a medical liquid includes an inlet, an outlet, and a duct adapted to contain a flow of the medical liquid. The duct is enclosed between two walls, has a planar development defining a mean plane &#x3c0;, and has means for promoting turbulence in the flow of the medical liquid. At least one wall of the duct is suitable to allow a heat exchange with the flow of the medical liquid. A tubing set suitable for use in co-operation with a hemodialysis machine includes an out-tube for supplying the blood from the patient to a filter of the machine, an in-tube for supplying the blood from the filter back to the patient, a drip chamber placed along one of the tubes, adapted to let the blood drip through an air buffer, and a vial gate for the connection of vials containing drugs to be delivered into the blood. The vial gate includes a delivery lumen, suitable for delivering the drug from the vial to the drip chamber, and a vent lumen, suitable for providing air inside the vial in order to replace the delivered drug.

The substitution tube includes an insert for the infusion of drugs, with the insert being configured to cooperate with a vial. A method of delivering drugs includes use of the tubing set, including the substitution tube, the insert, and the vial.
