A rocker arm assembly capable of switchably deactivating a roller assembly includes a valve end and a cam end having first and second roller assemblies, and a latching mechanism. The latching mechanism includes rocker body pins and roller body pins. The rocker body pins include first and second end pins and a connection pin, each pin provided within a rocker arm body along a latching axis. The roller body pins include first and second locking pins, each roller body pin provided within a respective roller assembly. In a first latching mode, the first roller assembly is deactivated and the second roller assembly is activated. In a second latching mode, the second roller assembly is deactivated and the first roller assembly is activated.

Rocker with switchable rollers for engine valvetrains

A latch assembly () can comprise a main latch pin assembly () comprising a first diameter (D) on a first main pin face (), and a secondary latch piston () comprising a second diameter (D) on a secondary piston face (). The secondary latch piston can be configured to selectively act on the main latching pin assembly. The main latch pin assembly can be biased to oppose the secondary latch piston. The first diameter can be greater than the second diameter. A rocker arm assembly () can comprise the latch assembly. A primary arm () can be configured to receive the main latch pin assembly. A secondary arm () can be configured to receive the secondary latch piston.

Latching pin assembly and deactivating rocker arm assembly

A rocker arm assembly can include a latch assembly, a primary arm configured to receive the latch assembly, and a secondary arm configured to receive the latch assembly. The secondary arm includes a secondary arm body and a piston support ring. A pivot slot passes through the primary arm, the secondary arm body, and the piston support ring.

A rocker arm assembly can include an outer arm having an outer rocker shaft bore configured to receive a rocker shaft and an inner arm having an inner rocker shaft bore configured to receive the rocker shaft. The inner arm can be configured to selectively rotate. A latch pin can be movably seated in the outer arm and configured to move between a latched position and an unlatched position. The rocker arm assembly can further include a lost motion spring. The lost motion spring can include a first end connected to a connecting portion of the inner arm above the inner rocker shaft bore and a second end connected to the outer arm. The inner arm can include an inner arm stop member configured contact with a corresponding outer arm stop member of the outer arm.

Rocker arms

A switchable rocker arm () can comprise a main body () configured to rotate around a rocker shaft. The main body can comprise a valve end (), and a cam end () comprising a piston bore (). A second body () can comprise a pivot portion (), a cam-receiving transfer portion (), and a latch bore () through the transfer portion. A latch assembly () can be mounted in the latch bore. A piston assembly () can be mounted in the piston bore.

Switchable rocker arm

A switching roller finger follower (SRFF) for valve actuation includes an outer arm (), a first inner arm (), a bearing axle () and a latch pin (). The outer arm () is formed of a metal stamping, and is pivotally coupled to a main axle (). The first inner arm () is coupled to the main axle () and is pivotably secure to the outer arm. The bearing axle () extends through the outer arm and the first inner arm. The bearing axle supports a roller () thereon. The latch pin () is slidably disposed in the outer arm () and is movable between at least a first position where the outer arm () and the first inner arm () are coupled for concurrent rotation and a second position wherein one of the outer arm and the first inner arm are configured to rotate relative to the other arm.

A valve control device for controlling the stroke of a valve of a combustion engine includes: a first body part and a second body part, co-axially arranged, rotatably arranged relative to each other and axially displaceable between a first axial relative position and a second axial relative position; a spring for urging the first body part and the second body part away from each other; wherein the first and second body part have both axial surfaces facing each other and provided with cams evenly distributed along the circumference of the axial surface and wherein the pitch of the cams on both axial surfaces is equal; and a locking pin arranged in axial direction through the first body and extending on both sides, wherein one end of the locking pin extends through a cam.

Valve lift control device

A hydraulic lash adjuster includes a body and a plunger assembly slideably mounted with respect to the body. A first chamber is defined by the body and the plunger assembly and is configured to contain a hydraulic fluid. A second chamber is configured to supply the hydraulic fluid to the first chamber through a valve disposed between the first and second chambers in response to a movement of the plunger assembly that increases the volume of the first chamber. An aperture opens into the second chamber. A stopper is insertable into the aperture during use of the hydraulic lash adjuster such that the stopper restrains the hydraulic fluid from exiting the second chamber through the aperture and enables air to exit the second chamber through the aperture.
