A V2X UE (e.g., wireless device) that includes a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) application enabler (VAE) client and a V2X application-specific client associated with a V2X application, where the V2X UE is connected with a V2X application server is enabled to receive notifications of conditions occurring in a wireless network that connects them. The V2X application-specific client in the UE performing a registration with the V2X application server for receiving notifications. The registration comprises one or more conditions monitored by a network function (NF) in the wireless network. For example, the condition can be related to QoS provided by the network in a particular geographic area and/or in a particular time window, where the NF can be a network data and analytics function (NWDAF). The VAE client receives from the VAE server the notifications. The VAE client can receive a notification of a particular occurrence of the condition after the NF monitoring detects the occurrence.

Network information delivery towards application at device side

A method performed by a Radio Area Network, RAN, function node for handling connectivity in a RAN is provided. The RAN function node receives from a network node, a first subscription request for one or more RAN insights relating to the connectivity, requested for an application related to a wireless device. The RAN function node identifies RAN data needed to fulfil the subscription request and sends to a RAN node, a second subscription request for the identified RAN data. The RAN function node receives published RAN data according to the second subscription request and generates the RAN insights according to the first subscription request based on the received RAN data. The RAN function node establishes which domain out of a trusted domain or an untrusted domain the generated RAN insights are to be exposed in and publishes the generated RAN insights according to the first subscription request.

Method and system for exposing radio access network (RAN) data

A method for notification control in a communication system performed by a core network is presented. The method comprising: establishing a PDU session; enabling a radio access network, RAN, to send a notification that notifying a UE, of the unfulfillment or re-fulfillment of QoS, for a QoS Flow in the PDU session using an AN-signaling based notification. The AN-signaling based notification including the unfulfillment or re-fulfillment of QoS parameters as defined in a QoS Flow description. The AN-signaling based notification further including expected QoS figures, an expected time interval and an accuracy of the notification. The UE/AF may further adapt their behavior according to the expected QoS provided by the AN.

Notification control in a communication system

A method by a wireless device () includes sending, to a network node () having an associated coverage area, a request for a sidelink (SL) resource pool configuration for a V2X application associated with the wireless device (). The request includes one or more geographical area identifiers associated with one or more respective SL resource pool configurations. A method of operating a vehicle to anything, V2X, application enabler, VAE, server is provided according to some embodiments disclosed herein. Methods providing V2X application server registration

In one aspect, network nodes maybe configured for improving predictability of application performance in a wireless communication system. A mobile network domain predicts an upcoming network event affecting a UE operating in the wireless communication system and notifies an application server (AS) providing an application service to the UE of the predicted network event. The AS may be notified through an Application Function (AF). The AS receives the notification and adjusts operation of the application service and/or a configuration of the UE, in response to the notification.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed, including in one example a method for scheduling resources, associated with a plurality of components of a communication network, for providing a network service to a user equipment (UE). The method comprises receiving a service request for providing the network service, wherein the service request includes one or more service constraints. The method also comprises, for each of the plurality of network components, determining component resources that are needed to fulfill the service request according to the service constraints, sending, to a manager function associated with the particular component, a resource request that includes identification of the determined component resources and information related to the service constraints, and receiving, from the manager function, service information associated with the particular component. The method also includes, based on the service information and a cost function, determining a resource schedule for the plurality of network components that fulfils the service request.

Service delivery with joint network and cloud resource management

According to an aspect, there is provided a method performed by a communication network for negotiating a data transfer between an application service and a user equipment, UE, via the communication network. The method comprises: receiving (), from the application service or a backend controller associated with the application service, a request for network capacity available for data transfer, wherein the request includes an indication of an amount of data to be transferred and one or more trajectories of the UE; determining () network capacity along the one or more trajectories based on load information associated with a radio access network, RAN, of the communication network; and sending (), to the application service or the backend controller associated with the application service, a response including information related the determined network capacity.

Application adaptation with exposure of network capacity

A method by a network node controls connectivity of UEs by identifying a group of UEs for communication with an application controlling parameters used by the UEs for operation in a vehicle platoon. The method controls connectivity for a UE in the group with a RAN node responsive to characteristics of the other UEs in the group. For each of the UEs the characteristic relates to functional operation of the UE with the application. Another method by an application server identifies the group of UEs, and identifies a characteristic of each of the UEs with the application. A message identifying the group of UEs and their characteristics is communicated to a network node for controlling connectivity for individual UEs in the group with a RAN node responsive to the characteristics of the other UEs in the group.

Connectivity control for platooning of user equipments

According to an aspect, there is provided a method performed by a communication network for negotiating a data transfer between an application service and a user equipment, UE, via the communication network. The method comprises receiving, from the application service or a negotiation function associated with the application service, a request for data transfer, wherein the request includes an indication of an amount of data to be transferred and one or more of the following: one or more service constraints associated with the data transfer; and a trajectory of the UE; obtaining predicted capacity for network resources needed to execute the data transfer according to the information included with the request; based on the predicted capacity, determining whether the request can be fulfilled according to the information included with the request; and sending a response to the request based on the result of the determination.

Predictive, cached, and cost-efficient data transfer

Embodiments include methods for notifying of changes to an access network's (AN) compliance with a QoS requirement for a data flow between an application server and an application associated with a user equipment served by the AN. Such embodiments include receiving, from a core network (CN), a first safeguard time associated with the QoS requirement and representing an amount of time required, prior to AN non-compliance with the QoS requirement, to adapt the application for safe operation during the AN non-compliance. Embodiments also include determining that, at approximately a first instance in the future, the AN is likely to be non-compliant with the QoS requirement; and sending, to the CN, a first notification indicating a likelihood of future AN non-compliance with the QoS requirement. The first notification is sent at least the first safeguard time before the first instance. Embodiments include complementary methods performed by CNs and application servers.

Method for advance notification of changes to network QoS capabilities

A method by a first function implemented on a first network node is provided for dynamic service negotiation. The method includes transmitting a service description to a second function to enable optimized delivery of a service based on the service description by the second function. The service description includes information associated with one or more delivery requirements for the service.
