The present disclosure relates to an armoured cable () for transporting alternate current comprising: at least one core (), each core comprising an electric conductor (); at least one metallic screen () surrounding the at least one core (); an armour (), surrounding the at least one metallic screen, comprising an inner layer () of armour wires and an outer layer () of armour wires, at least part of the armour wires of the inner layer () and at least part of the armour wires of outer layer () comprising a ferromagnetic material; and a separating layer between the inner layer () of armour wires and the outer layer () of armour wires. The separating layer has a thickness of at least 1 mm. The present disclosure also relates to a method for reducing losses in said armoured cable and to a method for improving the performances of said armoured cable.

Armoured cable for transporting alternate current

A cable includes an elongated tensile element having a cross section area and including a fibre reinforced polymer composite core having an elastic modulus of at least 70 GPa and a sheath at least partially covering the composite core. The sheath is made of metal and is at least 30% of the cross section area of the tensile element.

Method and armoured cable for transporting high voltage alternate current

A method and armored cable for transporting an alternate current at a maximum allowable working conductor temperature, as determined by the overall cable losses, the overall cable losses including conductor losses and armor losses. The cable includes at least one core, including an electric conductor having a cross section area, and an armor surrounding the core along a circumference. The method includes: causing the armor losses not higher than 40% of the overall cable losses by having the armor made with a layer of a plurality of metal wires having an elongated cross section with a major axis, the major axis being oriented tangentially with respect to the circumference; and transporting the alternate current at the maximum allowable working conductor temperature, in the electric conductor having cross section area sized on the overall cable losses including the armor losses not higher than 40% of the overall cable losses.

Method and armoured power cable for transporting alternate current

A composite flat cable, having in cross-section a major side, may include an outer sheath; two main electrical conductors; and two ducts for fluid circulation configured to circulate fluid. An armored cable for transporting an alternate current at a maximum allowable working conductor temperature includes: at least two cores stranded together according to a core stranding lay and a core stranding pitch A; and an armor surrounding the at least two cores, the armor including one layer of a plurality of metal wires wound around the cores according to a helical armor winding lay and an armor winding pitch B, the helical armor winding lay having the same direction as the core stranding lay, the armor winding pitch B being from 0.4A to 2.5A and differing from the core stranding pitch A by at least 10%.
