A support for an imaging material, which not only can give an imaging material and a print thereon having a high gloss appearance and being free of non-uniformity in gloss but also is improved in the property of peeling from a cooling roll and which has high stiffness and can be stably produced at a high speed, the support being a resin-coated-paper-based support for an imaging material, in which (1) each of a resin sheet on a side (front side) where an image is to be formed and a base paper has a multi-layered structure, (2) the base paper has a multi-layered structure, the resin sheet on the front surface is a polyolefin resin sheet and the paper layer constitution of the base paper is specified, or (3) the front resin sheet has a multi-layered structure constituted of an upper layer containing at least 50% by weight of a polyethylene resin having a density of at least 0.940 g/cmand a lower layer containing a largest amount of a polyethylene resin (b) having a density of less than 0.940 g/cmamong and the base paper is composed mainly of a natural pulp having a specific fiber length.

Support for imaging material

A resin coated paper-based support for an imaging material comprises a multilayered base paper and a polyolefin resin sheet on at least the image forming side of the paper base. The thickness, fiber length, pulp composition, and freeness of the paper layers comprising the multilayered base paper base are controlled in order to obtain an imaging material with high gloss, stiffness, and curl resistance. The polyolefin resin sheet may comprise one or more layers.

A photographic support consisting essentially of a substrate and a resin layer provided on the image forming side of the substrate, said resin layer comprising a specific titanium dioxide pigment and others. This photographic support is excellent in that it has a high brightness and a high apparent whiteness and stability of the apparent whiteness is good; printed image of high sharpness can be formed thereon: and occurrence of die lip stain at production is quite little and thus it has good surface property.

A resin coated sheet type photographic support which is made up of a support, which is coated on both sides with a polyolefin resin. On the image forming side, the resin contains a titanium dioxide pigment and a fluorescent agent of an alkyl-substituted 2,2'-(1,4-naphthalenediyl)-dibenzoxazole represented by the structural formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein R' and R' are independently alkyl groups having 9-20 carbon atoms, m and n are independently 0 or positive integers and m+n=1-4. An alkyl-substituted 2,2'-(1,4-naphthalenediyl)dibenzoxazole represented by the structural formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently alkyl groups having 9-20 carbon atoms, m and n are independently 0 or positive integers and m+n=1-4, and a photographic support comprising the alkyl-substituted 2,2'-(1,4-naphthalenediyl)dibenzoxazole as a fluorescent agent. The photographic support comprising the same has bright whiteness and does not cause color change or bleeding out.

The present invention provides a photographic support which comprises a base paper and polyolefin resin layers provided on both sides of the base paper by extrusion coating of molten polyolefin resins, wherein the polyolefin resin layer provided on the side of the base paper opposite to the side to be coated with photographic emulsion layer has multi-layer construction and a method for producing the photographic support. This photographic support is excellent in anticurl properties and adhesion between the base paper and the resin layer.

A photographic paper comprising a web and a photographic emulsion coated on the web wherein the web contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of weak acid salts of magnesium, calcium and zinc and oxides of magnesium, calcium and zinc as a photographic-properties improving agent in an amount of 0.01% by weight or more based on the weight of the pulp in the web is remarkably effective on reducing unfavorable influence on photographic properties caused by chemical additives in the web. Such an effect is particularly remarkable when the web contains at least one cationic additive such as cationic sizing agent, cationic strength agent, etc.

The present invention relates to a photographic material containing at least one kind of silver halogenide developer in at least one stratum of photograph-constructing layer provided on a support prepared by coating a paper base material with a film-formable resin wherein said paper base material for support is treated with at least one member selected from the group consisting of aminomethanesulfonic acid and its salts. When it is used, the discoloration in said photographic material can be prevented.

In a photographic material, comprising a photographic constitution layer or layers containing a silver halide developer on a support obtained by coating base paper with a film-forming resin, the use of the base paper treated with a sulfinic acid or a salt thereof prevents the discoloration of the photographic material by the influence of the silver halide developer.
