The mobile terminal device may be configured to calculate a plurality of inverse frequency transforms with inputs of a plurality of samples of a frequency-domain signal sequence to generate a plurality of intermediate transforms, wherein each of the plurality of intermediate transforms are composed of a respective plurality of samples, combine the respective plurality of samples of each of the plurality of intermediate transforms to generate a time-domain representation of the frequency-domain signal sequence, generate a random access preamble with the time-domain representation of the frequency-domain signal sequence, and transmit the random access preamble.

Mobile terminal device and method for processing signals

A technology that is operable to schedule data transfer for a multiple user multiple-input and multiple-output (MU-MIMO) communications network is disclosed. In one embodiment, an enhanced node B (eNode B) is configured with circuitry configured to receive a sounding signal from each of a plurality of user equipment (UEs). One or more major paths of the sounding signals from each of the plurality of UEs are determined. An angle of arrival (AoA) is determined that is associated with each of the one or more major paths. The plurality of UEs are grouped into one or more candidate MU-MIMO sets using the AoAs associated with each of the one or more major paths. Data transmissions are scheduled for one or more of the candidate UEs of the candidate MU-MIMO set on one or more of the major paths of each of the candidate UEs.

Scheduling in a multiple user multiple-input and multiple output communications network

A hybrid digital and analog beamforming device for a node operable with an antenna array is disclosed. In an example, the hybrid digital and analog beamforming device can include computer circuitry configured to: Segment antenna elements of an antenna array into at least two groups of antenna elements; map antenna ports for transmission chains to one group of the antenna elements; constrain digital precoding weights for a digital precoder for the antenna elements, where the digital precoding weight includes a digital phase and amplitude; and determine analog precoding weights for an analog precoder for the antenna elements, where the analog precoding weight includes an analog phase.

Hybrid digital and analog beamforming for large antenna arrays

Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, cooperation of multiple beams for transmission is provided by identifying at least two beams among multiple beams that are dominant for a user, determining if there is any beam collision between the at least two beams, and, if there is beam collision between the at least two beams, delaying scheduling on one or more weaker ones of the at least two beams for other users and combining the two or more beams for transmission to the user. Alternatively, cooperation of multiple beams for transmission is provided by, if there is beam collision between the at least two beams, muting one or more weaker ones of the at least two beams and transmitting to the user with a stronger one of the at least two beams.

Technology to adaptively sectorize a spatial region for parallel multi-user transmissions is disclosed. In an example, a node (e.g., evolved Node B (eNB)) can include computer circuitry configured to: Generate a set of precoding matrices for a set of beam cones in the spatial region; and generate a beam cone for multi-user beamforming transmissions using system information for the beam cone. A precoding matrix in the set of precoding matrices can be used for each beam cone, and each beam cone can cover a beam cone spatial region that differs from another beam cone spatial region of another beam cone in the spatial region. Each beam cone can include system information that differs from the system information of the other beam cones in the spatial region.

Adaptive sectorization of a spational region for parallel multi-user transmissions

Technology to generate an improved signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) from a set of orthogonal reference signals (RSs) is disclosed. In an example, a user equipment (UE) can include computer circuitry configured to: Receive a set of orthogonal RSs from a node; calculate a SINR for each of the RSs in the set of orthogonal RSs to form a set of SINR; select a maximum SINR from the set of SINR; and quantize the maximum SINR for the set of SINR. In a multiple-persona system, one of the personas may have a higher significance than the other persona. Such a method and system may operate independently of the eNodeB or have the eNodeB actively controlling the priority among the personas. In one or more embodiments, a full adder may be used to combine the two phases wherein the sum signal is used to drive the main power amplifier, and the carry signal is used to drive the overload power amplifier.
