The present invention provides a method for producing an MDF board from pulp from a fibrous lignocellulose material using a treatment or pretreatment step which exposes the material to oxalic acid or oxalic acid derivatives (particularly dialkyl ester derivatives, particularly in the vapor phase). The treated wood is then subjected to a sugar extraction wash and refined using any one of the several pulping methods to produce a final pulp product. Once this is done the pulp is used to make MDF boards having improved water repellency properties.

Method of making medium density fiberboard

The present invention is a method for producing a pulp from a fibrous lignocellulose material or source using a treatment or pretreatment step which exposes the material to oxalic acid derivatives, particularly dialkyl ester derivatives, particularly in the vapor phase. Once treated, the material may be refined using any one of the several pulping methods to produce a final pulp product and the production of the product is accompanied by strength increases in paper made from the pulp and energy savings in making the pulp, hi addition the treatment or pretreatment produces a soluble carbohydrate source and other components (e.g. acetic acid, other wood components) for further product development. In certain cases a pulp product is not produced and all of the carbohydrate present in the lignocellulose is converted into soluble sugars.

Method for treating lignocellulosic materials

The present invention is a method for producing pulp from fibrous lignocellulose material using a treatment step which exposes the material to oxalic acid, or oxalic acid and sodium bisulfite, prior to pulping. The pulping of the resulting product requires less energy input and provides a pulp having enhanced physical properties as compared to untreated materials.

Method for producing pulp

In a new process for preparing pulped wood chips for paper making, chips from a hardwood such as eucalyptus are inoculated with aliving culture of one or more white rot fungi. The fungi propagate throughout the body of the wood chip, selectively attacking the lignin of the wood without harming the cellulosic fibers. Subsequent mechanical pulpting results in reduced utilization of energy, improved strength, and reduced cooking time.

Eucalyptus biomechanical pulping process

A method for producing paper pulp for use in the making of paper from eucalyptus wood chips. The method comprises inoculating wood chips with white rot fungi, fermenting the wood chips so as to cause a propagation of the fungus through the wood chips and allowing the fungus to modify the lignin, and pulping the degraded wood chips by a kraft process.

Process for producing biokraft pulp from eucalyptus chips

A method using biological processes in the production of pulp from industrial wood waste is described. The process makes use of various species of white-rot fungi which selectively degrade lignin. The industrial wood waste must be cleaned and hydrated prior to inoculation with the fungus. Paper produced by this process has excellent strength characteristics as compared to both non-treated industrial wood waste and pulp produced from virgin wood chips. Substantial energy savings are also realized when the biopulped industrial wood waste chips are further refined by conventional mechanical pulping procedures. Kraft pulping of wood waste resulted in strength properties comparable to those of virgin wood. Fungal pretreatment subsequently enhanced the resulting kraft pulp properties.

Biopulping industrial wood waste

A method of making a wood pulp is disclosed. The method includes chipping wood into wood chips and then inoculating the wood chips with an inoculum of a white rot fungi and a nutrient adjuvant selected from the group consisting of corn steep liquor, molasses and yeast extract. The wood chips are introduced into a bioreactor and incubated. The incubated wood chips are then pulped. A method of pretreating wood including chipping the wood into wood chips and inoculating the wood chips with an inoculant of the white rot fungi and a nutrient adjuvant selected from the group consisting of corn steep liquor, molasses and yeast extract is also disclosed. A method for producing paper from the treated wood chips is also disclosed. The addition of the nutrient adjuvant dramatically reduces the amount of fungal inoculant needed (by multiple orders of magnitude), to achieve similar results.

A method of making a wood pulp is disclosed. The method includes chipping wood into wood chips and then inoculating the wood chips with an inoculum of Ceriporiopsis subvermispora and a nutrient adjuvant selected from the group consisting of corn steep liquor, molasses and yeast extract. The wood chips are introduced into a bioreactor and incubated. The incubated wood chips are then pulped. A method of pretreating wood including chipping the wood into wood chips and inoculating the wood chips with an inoculant of Ceriporiopsis subvermispora and a nutrient adjuvant of corn steep liquor is also disclosed. A method for producing paper from the treated wood chips is also disclosed. The addition of the corn steep liquor nutrient adjuvant dramatically reduces the amount of fungal inoculant needed (by multiple orders of magnitude), to achieve similar results.

A method of making a wood pulp is disclosed. Wood is first chipped into wood chips. The wood chips are treated with an amount of sulfite salt sufficient to inhibit indigenous microorganism growth. The treated wood chips are introduced into a bioreactor and inoculated with a culture of white-rot fungus. The wood chips are incubated under conditions favoring the propagation of white-rot fungus and then mechanically pulped.

Method of pulping wood chips with a fungi using sulfite salt-treated

An algorithm for classifying cardiac arrhythmias comprising multiple stages and dual chamber sensing. A first stage includes the steps of comparing ventricular and atrial rates and declaring that the heart is in atrial tachycardia or atrial fibrillation on the one hand, or that the heart is in ventricular fibrillation on the other hand. The second stage is entered if no determination is made in the first stage and, in particular, when the atrial rate equals the ventricular rate. A third stage is entered in which the heart is paced (ventricular, atrial or both) at a predetermined rate for a set period of time. Cardiac rhythm classification is made based on heart responses during and after pacing.

Sensing algorithm for anti-tachycardia devices using dual chamber sensing

A method of using biological processes as a pretreatment step in combined biological and mechanical paper pulping process is described. The process uses a species of fungus, Ceriporiopsis subvermispora, which has not previously been used for this purpose. It has been found that even with a non-optimized system, and with the stationary holding of the wood chips during fungal incubation, that significant savings in energy usage in the pulping process can be achieved compared to conventional mechanical pulping while simultaneously achieving increased strength characteristics in the paper.
