The present invention addresses the problem of providing a vehicular brake system that uses both friction braking force generated by an electrical braking unit and regenerative braking force generated by a regenerative braking unit, and can reduce a shortage in braking force when a slip has occurred on a wheel and antilock control is activated. The vehicular brake system includes: an electrical braking unit that supplies operational pressure generated in operational fluid by an electrical brake actuator to wheel cylinders and thereby applies friction braking force to wheels; a regenerative braking unit for applying regenerative braking force generated by an electrical motor to a driving wheel; and an antilock control unit for activating antilock control that increases and decreases the friction braking force to stop slip of a wheel.

A vehicle brake force generation device is provided with an electric motor for applying drive force and regenerative brake force to the wheels of an electric vehicle, a brake hydraulic pressure generation device for generating the brake hydraulic pressure to be applied to the calipers of the electric vehicle, a slip information computation unit for computing the slip information of the wheels, a VSA device for controlling the friction braking of at least the brake hydraulic pressure generation device such that the slipping of the wheels is inhibited, a first diagnosis unit for diagnosing the VSA device, and a brake control unit for controlling the cooperative braking which includes controlling the regenerative braking of the electric motor and/or controlling the friction braking of the brake hydraulic pressure generation device.

An oil level sensor for detecting an oil level is arranged in an engine oil pan. The oil level sensor includes a mounting section and a sensing section. An air hole is formed at an upper end of a cover member of the sensing section. The air hole is surrounded by a tubular portion of a shield member attached to a baffle plate of the oil pan. Therefore, any splashed engine oil in the oil pan is restricted from entering the cover member of the sensing section through the air hole. Also, a clearance (&#x3b1;) for venting air is formed between the tubular portion and the baffle plate.

An electronic distance meter includes a sighting telescope optical system having an objective lens for sighting an object, and an optical distance meter which includes a light-transmitting optical system for transmitting a measuring light toward the object via the objective lens, and a light-receiving optical system for receiving a portion of the measuring light which is reflected by the object. The light-transmitting optical system includes a light-shield mask having a translucent portion to define a beam profile of the measuring light. The translucent portion comprises a filter having an uneven density, light transmittance of a central portion of the filter being greater than light transmittance of a peripheral portion of the filter.

A surveying instrument having an AF apparatus, provided with a focusing lens and a collimation telescope, includes a focus detector for detecting a focus state through the collimation telescope, and a controller for moving the focusing lens of the collimation telescope to a focal position, based on the focus state detected by the focus detector. The invention provides an electronic control unit for controlling an air/fuel ratio of an engine having a lean NOx catalyst in its exhaust system in order to prevent the decrease of the fuel efficiency without deterioration of the drivability due to a rich operation for reducing the NOx catalyst. The electronic control unit includes: an air/fuel ratio control system for changing the air/fuel ratio to a rich side when the amount of NOx occluded by the lean NOx catalyst exceeds a predetermined value and changing said air/fuel ratio back to a lean side when a first predetermined period has elapsed; a lagging system for lagging ignition timing in synchronization with the air/fuel ratio changing to the rich side by said air/fuel ratio control system; and decrementing system for decreasing the amount of the ignition timing lagged by the lagging system by a predetermined amount when a second predetermined period shorter than said first predetermined period has elapsed after the air/fuel ratio changing to the rich side. According to the invention, it is possible to prevent the decrease of the fuel efficiency without the deterioration of the drivability due to the rich operation to reduce the NOx catalyst because the ignition timing is lagged in synchronization with the air/fuel ratio changing to the rich side and the lagged amount is decremented after a predetermined period has elapsed. In one embodiment, the decrementing system gradually decrements said lagging amount up to a hold value.

Electronic control unit for controlling ignition timing during reduction of NOx occluded by lean NOx catalyst

A surveying machine that automatically adjusts an optical axis includes a sighting optical system for sighting an object, a light-transmitting optical system that transmits a beam for surveying, radiated from a light source, to the object, a deviation detector, and an optical axis adjuster. The deviation detector detects a deviation between a first optical axis corresponding to the sighting optical system and a second optical axis corresponding to the light-transmitting optical system. The optical axis adjuster automatically adjusts at least one of the first optical axis and the second optical axis so as to correct the deviation.

A fuel supply control system for an internal combustion engine comprises deceleration detecting device for detecting a predetermined decelerating condition of the engine, and fuel supply decreasing device for decreasing the supply of fuel to the engine when the predetermined decelerating condition is detected by the deceleration detecting device. A first counting device starts to count a first predetermined time period when the high-load detecting device detects that the engine has left the predetermined high-load condition. An inhibiting device inhibits the fuel supply decreasing device from operating when the deceleration detecting device detects the predetermined decelerating condition of the engine before the first counting device completes counting the first predetermined time period. A second counting device counts a second predetermined time period while the high-load detecting device is detecting the predetermined high-load condition of the engine. The first counting device starts to count the first predetermined time period when the second counting device has completed counting the second predetermined time period. An intake air increasing device increases the amount of intake air supplied to the engine while the inhibiting device is operating.

Fuel supply control system for internal combustion engines

A method of controlling in a feedback manner the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine having a first fuel injection valve and a second fuel injection valve each operating in a different operating region, during operation of the engine in an air-fuel ratio feedback control region, by the use of a coefficient which varies with the output of an exhaust gas ingredient concentration sensor. In a first and a second operating regions within the air-fuel ratio feedback control region in which the first and second fuel injection valves operate, respectively, a first average value and a second average value of values of said coefficient obtained in the respective regions are calculated, and stored, respectively. When the engine has shifted to the first or and second operating regions, a value based on the corresponding first or second average value is used as an initial value of the coefficient to therely start the feedback control. Preferably, in a third operating region defined as a predetermined period of time which elapses after the engine has shifted from the second operating region to the first operating region, a third average value of values of the coefficient obtained in the third operating region is calculated and stored, and when the engine shifted to the third operating region, the third average value is used as an initial value of the coefficient to thereby start the feedback control.

Air-fuel ratio feedback control method for internal combustion engines

A fuel supply control method for a multicylinder internal combustion engine equipped with a fuel supply control system including a main fuel injection valve disposed in the intake passage upstream of the throttle valve, and an auxiliary fuel injection valve disposed in the intake passage downstream of the throttle valve and upstream of the intake manifold, for controlling the fuel supply control system according to operating conditions of the engine. Fuel is supplied by the main fuel injection valve when the engine temperature is lower than a predetermined value, fuel is supplied by the auxiliary fuel injection valve when the engine temperature is higher than the predetermined value and the degree of opening of the throttle valve is smaller than a predetermined value, the fuel pressure applied to both the main fuel injection valve and the auxiliary fuel injection valve is regulated according to a predetermined parameter representing operating conditions of the engine, namely, pressure within the intake passage at a location downstream of the throttle valve, and the predetermined parameter is applied also to controlling the respective basic fuel injection periods of the main fuel injection valve and the auxiliary fuel injection valve.

An idling speed feedback control method for an internal combustion engine for controlling the operating amount of a control valve for regulating the quantity of intake air being supplied to the engine in response to the difference between a desired idling speed and an actual engine speed, while the engine is in a predetermined idling region. A correction value for the operating amount of the control valve is determined in dependence upon the valve of a signal indicative of generating conditions of a generator driven by the engine for supplying electric power to at least one electrical device, and the operating amount of the control valve is corrected by means of the thus determined correction value. When the engine has entered the predetermined idling region immediately following deceleration, an initial value of the operating amount of the control valve which is applied at the start of the feedback control is set to a sum of a value obtained by correcting the correction value by means of a predetermined increment, and a predetermined reference value. While the engine is decelerating toward the predetermined idling region, the operating amount of the control valve is set to a value equal to the initial value.
