Imaging apparatus

An imaging system in which, if image data of variable resolutions is to be handled in keeping with the increasing resolution of the image data, the processing is executed efficiently without lowering the processing capability of the respective circuits. A memory controller time-divisionally transmits an acknowledge signal to the respective circuits within a range of the bandwidth limitation of an image data bus in which image data can be furnished to the respective circuits, and manages control so that the respective circuits will execute the pre-set processing. The memory controller has access to data in the respective circuits in real-time to cause image data to be written from the respective circuits to the image memory or to be read out from the image memory and sent to the respective circuits.

In an imaging apparatus, an image is to be displayed in real-time on a finder. In the finder mode, a CCD interface thins out horizontal components of image data supplied from an image generating unit to one-third and also effects gamma correction etc to send the resulting image data to a camera DSP . The camera DSP effects data conversion and resolution conversion on the image data resulting from the thinning to convert the data into Y, Cb and Cr image data which is routed to a memory controller . The memory controller writes the image data in the image memory and reads out the data from the memory controller to route the read-out data over an image data bus to an NTSC/PAL encoder . The NTSC/PAL encoder converts the image data in resolution and further converts the image data into data of the NTSC or PAL system to route the resulting data to a finder.

A reproducing apparatus is disclosed in which reproduction advancement data are produced using data recorded in a user Table of Contents (TOC) area of a recording medium as access information during recording and/or reproduction of data.
