A polylactic acid resin film or sheet which can be satisfactorily and stably formed and has excellent matte properties. It is a single-layer matte film or sheet which comprises a polylactic acid resin composition containing a particulate substance and at least one side of which has a surface gloss as measured in accordance with ASTM-D2457-70 (45&#xb0; gloss) of 60% or lower.

Matte film

The present invention provides a biaxially oriented film of a polylactic acid resin that is suitable for films for bags and packaging films for various windows, particularly films for outlook window envelopes. The film is biodegradable and, as films for outlook window envelopes, is superior in the coating adaptability for an antistatic agent, a lubricant and an antiblocking agent or the like and in the high-speed cutting property. The present invention discloses a biaxially oriented film of a polylactic acid resin comprising not less than 50% by weight of a polylactic acid resin, which has a storage modulus E'at 80&#xb0; C. within the range from 10 MPa to 3,000 MPa, as determined by the test method for temperature dependency of dynamic viscoelasticity, in accordance with JIS K7198 (method A); a heat shrinkage of not higher than 10%, upon heating at 80&#xb0; C. for 10 seconds; and a tear strength in the width direction (TD direction) of the film of 10 to 200 mN, as determined in accordance with JIS K7128 (method B).

Biaxially oriented polylactic acid-based resin films

The present invention provides antimicrobial compositions, especially compositions comprising an antimicrobial (microbiocidal or microbiostatic) compound and a potentiator of antimicrobial activity. Compositions of the invention combining an antimicrobial compound and a potentiator are able to kill or inhibit the growth of microorganisms using much lower concentrations of the antimicrobial compound. The potentiator also enhances the efficacy of antimicrobial compounds against resistant strains of the microorganism.

A shaped article comprised of a tetrafluoroethylene polymer with a number average molecular weight of at least about 10.sup.6 which exhibits specific heat shrinking properties represented by an average maximum expansion ratio of from 2 to 10, a least maximum shrinkage ratio of 0.71 or less, an orientation release stress at 200.degree. C. of less than 5 Kg/cm.sup.2 and a shrinking starting temperature of at least 80.degree. C. The shaped article has excellent compression creep resistance, compression resistance, impact strength, dimensional stability, gas barrier property and tensile strength. Accordingly, it can be advantageously utilized as a sealant, a lining material, a bearing pad, a sliding pad, etc.
