The swaging portions have, an annular first swaging portion having a minimum thickness and a maximum outer diameter, a disk third swaging portion having a maximum thickness and a minimum outer diameter, and an annular second swaging portion having a thickness between the minimum thickness and the maximum thickness and an outer diameter between the maximum outer diameter and the minimum outer diameter. The tool also has a first annular inclined surface provided between the annular first swaging portion and the annular second swaging portion, and a second annular inclined surface provided between the annular second swaging portion and the disk third swaging portion.

Closing structure for opening of cylindrical housing and gas generator

A gas generator includes a housing and a diffuser connected to the housing. The diffuser has a cup-like shape and includes an opening portion joined to the housing and a circumferential wall portion provided with gas discharge ports. A partition plate is attached to the opening between the housing and the diffuser for closing the opening. The diffuser has first and second tubular space portions therein communicating with each other, the first tubular space portion facing the partition plate, and the second tubular space portion communicating with the gas discharge ports. A step is formed between the first and second tubular space portions such that the inner diameter of the first tubular space portion is larger than the inner diameter of the second tubular space portion, and a cross-sectional area of the second tubular space portion is smaller than the total opening area of the gas discharge ports.

A gas generator includes a housing having a gas discharge port, a combustion chamber cup member disposed, in the housing, such that an opening portion thereof covers a bottom surface of the housing, the combustion chamber cup member having a communication hole at least a portion of its peripheral wall surface thereof, a metallic cover member covering the peripheral wall surface provided with the communication hole, and a combustion chamber being formed inside the combustion chamber cup member and accommodating a gas generating agent and an igniter therein, at the time of activation, the cover member expanding and deforming mainly in the radial direction to form a gap between the peripheral wall surface of the combustion cup member and the metallic cover member, which serves as a gas channel leading to the combustion chamber and the outside of the combustion chamber.

A gas generator includes, a housing defining a first combustion chamber and accommodating an enhancer chamber cup member, defining an enhancer chamber, and a combustion chamber cup member provided outside the enhancer chamber cup member and defining a second combustion chamber. The enhancer cup member accommodates a first gas generating agent ignited by a first ignition device, and has an enhancer hole for communicating the enhancer chamber with the first combustion chamber during activation. A gas generator for a restraining device includes a housing formed by joining and integrating a diffuser shell having a gas discharge port and a closure shell, and a gas generating agent, an igniter, and a cylindrical filter, accommodated inside the housing. The housing has a top plate, a circumferential wall surface, and a bottom plate, and a plurality of protruding portions concaved inwardly and formed with a distance from each other on at least either of an upper annular corner portion located at a boundary portion between the top plate and the circumferential wall surface and a lower annular corner portion located at a boundary portion between the bottom plate and the circumferential wall surface. Part of the cylindrical filter is supported and fixed by the plurality of protruding portions, and a gap is provided between an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical filter and the gas discharge hole.

An air bag inflator has a cylindrical housing defining an internal space therein and having a convex portion protruding towards the internal space, and a cup member provided inside the cylindrical housing and having a cylindrical wall, provided with a vent hole that communicates inside the cup member with a space defined by the cup member and an inner surface of the cylindrical housing, and an end wall closing a first end of the cylindrical wall. The cup member is supported inside the cylindrical housing by making contact with the convex portion.
