A control device for controlling a vehicle that includes a headlight switchable between a first state and a second state in which the headlight is able to illuminate farther than in the first state, the control device including: a processing circuitry configured to execute automatic illumination switching control for setting the headlight to the first state or the second state and to execute an out-of-vehicle notification for switching the headlight between the first state and the second state at a predetermined cycle when another vehicle having a possibility to collide with the host vehicle is detected in front of the host vehicle. A control device for controlling a host vehicle including: a processing circuitry configured to, when another vehicle traveling in a opposite direction to the host vehicle and having a possibility to collide with the host vehicle is detected in front of the host vehicle, execute an out-of-vehicle notification using a headlight based on a distance between the host vehicle and the another vehicle. When the distance is equal to or smaller than a first threshold and equal to or larger than a second threshold that is smaller than the first threshold, the processing circuitry executes the out-of-vehicle notification, and when the distance is smaller than the second threshold, the processing circuitry does not execute the out-of-vehicle notification or executes the out-of-vehicle notification with a notification intensity lower than that when the distance is equal to or smaller than the first threshold and equal to or larger than the second threshold.

A driving assistance device comprises: a recognition unit configured to recognize a lighting color of a traffic light from an image captured by a camera that images an outside world of a vehicle; and an alarm output unit configured to output an alarm to a driver of the vehicle when the lighting color is red and there is no braking operation of the vehicle. When a plurality of traffic lights are recognized from the image by processing of the recognition unit, the alarm output unit controls the output of the alarm based on a combination of lighting colors of the plurality of traffic lights.

A vehicle control device () includes a deceleration controller () that operates according to an operation of an occupant of a vehicle or on the basis of a result of detecting a state of the occupant, and performs at least control of decelerating the vehicle, and a lane change controller () that causes the vehicle to change a lane independently of a steering operation of the occupant of the vehicle, and at least a part of the control of the deceleration controller is restricted when an operation condition of the deceleration controller and an operation condition of the lane change controller are satisfied at the same time.

An emergency stop system includes a hazard switch that is a momentary switch, an automatic stop controller that performs automatic stop control for causing a vehicle to automatically stop when a predetermined condition is met, and a hazard light controller that controls hazard lights. While automatic stop control is not being performed, the hazard light controller switches the hazard lights between a flashing state and a turned-off state each time a user presses the hazard switch. The hazard light controller brings the hazard lights into the flashing state upon start of the automatic stop control, and turns off the hazard lights (i.e., transitions the hazard lights to the turned-off state) upon depression of the hazard switch while the hazard lights are flashing during execution of the automatic stop control.

Emergency stop system and emergency stop method

When a collision between a vehicle and a physical object is detected, a notification control unit transmits a notification command to a notification device. Upon receiving the notification command, the notification device notifies an external emergency notification center. While the notification device is notifying the emergency notification center, a brake control unit maintains the actuated state of a brake device and stops the vehicle. This configuration makes it possible to prevent any increase in accidents after a vehicle collision, and to prevent the driver from escaping.

Device and method for controlling braking during collisions

A stop control device includes: a stop intention detection unitthat detects a stop intention of a driver; an unable-to-drive state detection unitthat detects that the driver is in an unable-to-drive state; a stop control unitthat performs automatic stop control in which a vehicle is decelerated and stopped, based on whether the stop intention is detected by the stop intention detection unit and/or whether the unable-to-drive state is detected by the unable-to-drive state detection unit; and a state display unitthat shows, on a display, information on whether it has been determined to activate the automatic stop control, a state of the control, and/or whether it has been determined to cancel the control.

An emergency vehicle control device includes an emergency vehicle stop switch that detects or estimates an emergency situation; an accelerator operation detector that detects whether or not an accelerator is being operated; and a cruise controller that executes vehicle speed maintaining control or inter-vehicle distance maintaining control for a preceding vehicle. In the case where an emergency situation is detected or estimated by the emergency vehicle stop switch while a vehicle is running, execution of control by the cruise controller is prohibited, and when an accelerator non-operation state lasting for an accelerator non-operation time threshold value or longer since the prohibition of the control is detected by the accelerator operation detector, the vehicle is automatically stopped.

Emergency vehicle control device

An emergency vehicle control device includes an emergency vehicle stop switch (emergency situation detector) that detects or estimates an emergency situation; and an accelerator operation detector that detects whether or not an accelerator is being operated. When an emergency situation is detected or estimated by the emergency situation detector and an accelerator non-operation state lasting for an accelerator non-operation time threshold value or longer is detected by the accelerator operation detector while the vehicle is running, the vehicle is automatically stopped regardless of whether or not a steering operation is performed.

An emergency vehicle control device, when an emergency vehicle stop switch is operated for an operation time threshold value or longer in a state where automatic vehicle stop control is not executed, determines that the automatic vehicle stop control is intended to be executed. Later, when the interval between the previous operation and the current operation of the emergency vehicle stop switch is within an operation interval threshold value, the determination that the automatic vehicle stop control is intended to be executed is sustained, whereas when the interval exceeds the operation interval threshold value and the emergency vehicle stop switch is operated for the operation time threshold value or longer, it is determined that the execution of the automatic vehicle stop control is intended to be cancelled.

An automatic stop controller (including a deceleration setting unit and a deceleration instruction unit) performs automatic stop control of a vehicle by using a first deceleration in response to (i) the detection or estimation of a stop intention by a stop intention detector or (ii) the detection or estimation of an unable-to-drive state of the driver of the vehicle by an unable-to-drive state detector while the vehicle is traveling. The automatic stop controller performs automatic stop control of the vehicle by using a second deceleration larger than the first deceleration in response to (i) the detection or estimation of the stop intention by the stop intention detector and (ii) the detection or estimation of the unable-to-drive state of the driver by the unable-to-drive state detector.

A road-condition determining unit determines the condition of a travelling road on which a vehicle is travelling. When a predetermined condition is satisfied, a stopping controller operates a braking mechanism to perform an automatic stop process of stopping the vehicle, and uses a steering mechanism to change the orientation of steered wheels of the vehicle in accordance with the condition of the travelling road which is determined by the road-condition determining unit when the automatic stop process is to end.
