The tank opening-closing device is realized with a simple constitution of the opening-closing mechanism equipped with a pressure adjustment valve for regulating the internal pressure of the fuel tank. The opening-closing mechanism is equipped with a gasket provided on the opening peripheral edge part of the inlet of the tank opening forming member, the valve opening-closing mechanism for opening and closing the inlet and also regulating the internal pressure of the fuel tank, and a retraction mechanism that selectively moves the valve opening-closing mechanism to the closing position and the fueling position in conjunction with the fueling gun, The valve opening-closing mechanism has a closing position for opening and closing the inlet and a fueling position retracted from the inlet for which it is possible to supply fuel.

Tank opening-closing device

The tank opening-closing device is equipped with a tank opening forming member having a fuel path for leading fuel supplied from the fueling gun through the inlet to the fuel tank, a valve opening-closing mechanism having an opening-closing member and spring that closes in a state with the inlet sealed, and an opening-closing activation mechanism for opening and operating the opening-closing member. The opening-closing activation mechanism has an operating member pivoted at the tank opening forming member, and a pressing member for pressing the opening-closing member formed on the operating member, and is constituted so that by the operating member being pressed by the fueling gun and rotating, the opening-closing member is pressed by the pressing member and is rotated in the opening direction so as to open the inlet.

The gasket is interposed between the seal face and the seal retaining portion of the fuel cap. The gasket has a first lip for pressing against the seal face, a second lip for pressing against the seal retaining portion, and a connecting portion connecting the first lip with the second lip; and is formed with a C-shaped cross section. An assist rib projects from the inside face of the second lip. The assist rib is formed so as to press the distal edge of the first lip towards the seal face.

Gasket and tank opening-closing device

A fuel capmaintains high sealing even when subjected to external force; is easy to operate; and requires minimal space for accommodation. The cap device comprises a casing bodyfor closing the filler opening FNb in a sealed condition, a cover, a handle, a clutch mechanismand a torque transmission mechanism. By upraising the handle to the handling position and applying rotational torque, rotational torque is transmitted to the casing bodyvia the clutch mechanismand the torque transmission mechanism, closing the filler opening FNb. The handlelowers back to the retracted position when released, whereupon the clutch mechanismassumes non-transmission mode wherein the coverand the handlerotate freely if subjected to external force such as in a collision.

Cap device with torque mechanism

A gasket of the invention is attached to a fuel cap and is located between a pipe sealing face of an inlet opening and a seal support element of the fuel cap to seal the fuel cap from the inlet opening. The gasket has a gasket main body and multiple sealing projections protruded from the gasket main body. The multiple sealing projections include a first pipe sealing projection and a second pipe sealing projection, which come into contact with the pipe sealing face, and a first body sealing projection and a second body sealing projection, which come into contact with the seal support element. The first pipe sealing projection is formed on a lower end of the gasket main body in its axial direction and is protruded to be pressed against the pipe sealing face in an initial stage of a closing operation. The second pipe sealing projection is protruded to have a greater sealing face pressure than the first pipe sealing projection and to be pressed against the pipe sealing face after the initial stage of the closing operation. The gasket of the invention ensures a sufficiently high sealing face pressure even with a small compressive force.

Gasket and tank cap

A cap device having a tether mechanism which is used to link a fuel cap to a fueling lid. The tether mechanism includes an elongate tether having on one end a detent and on the opposite end a vehicle attachment component and an engaged component adjacent the attachment component.

Resin member and method of manufacturing the same

A welding jointfor a fuel tank reduces the amount of fuel vapor in the fuel tank that escapes into the atmosphere. The fuel tank welding jointa joint main bodyand a barrier layer laminated on the surface of the joint main body. The joint main bodyis formed of a first resin material weldable to the wall of the fuel tank FT, and the barrier layeris formed of a second resin material that is adhesively and chemically reactive with the first resin material and that is more fuel-impermeable than the first resin material. An end portionformed so as to be exposed to the outside at the end of a tube portionis formed on the barrier layer. When the barrier layeris injection molded on the surface of the joint main body, the end portionis formed by the flow of the second resin material through the end of the tube portionto increase the adhesive strength of the end face where the parts are joined.

Manufacturing method of fuel tank welding joint

A cap device of the invention has a tether mechanism, which is used to link a fuel cap to a fueling lid. The tether mechanism includes a cord-like flexible linkage body having one end as a first support end, which is fit in a support member of a rotating ring. The first support end is inserted from inside of the rotating ring through an insertion opening into a support recess. This fits the first support end in the support recess, while allowing the linkage body to be led through a lead opening. The first support end is accordingly fixed to the support member. The rotating ring is then attached to a circular groove formed on the fuel cap. The tether mechanism of this simple structure is readily fixed and thereby ensures easy attachment to the fuel cap.

Cap device

A fuel cap has a male threading element which is formed on an outer circumference of a closer of the fuel cap, a female threading element which is formed on an inner wall of a filler neck, and a handle. Rotation of the handle in a closing direction screws the male threading element into the female threading element. A stopper formed on the male threading element comes into contact with the start end of the female threading element to complete the closing operation. At this fully closed position, a gasket located between the closer and a sealing face of the filler neck is pressed and displaced in an axial direction to seal the sealing face of the filler neck with a sealing face pressure of not less than a preset level.

A fuel cap has a torque member attached to an upper portion of a casing body. The torque member is a disk-shaped plate to transmit a rotational torque applied to a handle to the casing body. An interlocking recess and interlocking claws, which constitute a plate attachment mechanism, are arranged on the upper portion of the casing member. Fitting of the interlocking claws in the interlocking recess causes the torque member to be attached to the casing body in a freely rotatable manner. This simple structure of the invention effectively prevents the fuel cap from being easily damaged by an inadvertent operation, such as a careless drop of the fuel cap, and ensures the sufficient sealing properties of the fuel cap even under application of an external load.

A fuel cap has a torque member that is attached to a casing body in a freely rotatable manner. A tether mechanism is attached to the torque member and functions to link the fuel cap with a fuel lid. The tether mechanism includes a tether rotation support that is set on the torque member in a freely rotatable manner, and a connector member. The torque member is mainly composed of a resin material, for example, polyacetal, whereas the tether rotation support is mainly composed of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPEE). The resin material of the torque member has a liquid swelling property substantially equal to or less than that of the tether rotation support. This structure of the invention ensures the good operation ability of the fuel cap even in wet weather.

Oil feeder of fuel tank

In the fuel tank, a tank wall providing a tank chamber is formed by blow molding. A tank partition is disposed in the tank chamber. The tank partition is positioned in a direction substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the tank wall, and is clamped between the opposite inner surfaces of the tank wall. A functional component is attached to the tank partition.

Fuel tank and manufacturing method thereof

A fuel capincludes a casing, a handlemounted on an upper portion of the casingcomposed of a non-conductive resin material, and grounding mechanism composed of a conductive material.
