A system resource manager of a site management server registers a server domain as a group of servers having a uniform physical wire connection. A software RM of the site management server and a software sub RM of a domain management server install, in cooperation with each other, a software used by a server that belongs to a registered server domain in a storage connected via a SAN, and causes the server to use installed software.

Method, apparatus, and computer product for managing operation

Administrative right information corresponding to a domain and a service group, domain information, and service group information are stored in a system resource DB. When an administrator makes a request for operating a resource using an operation management client, an authority determining unit of a system resource manager makes a determination whether the administrator has an administrative right for a domain or a service group to which the requested resource belongs using the information stored in the system resource DB, and permits or denies the operation based on a result of determination.

Current configuration information of an information processing apparatus, post configuration information after updating a software, configuration information of a network device are stored in a database. A selection of a software image for updating the software of the information processing apparatus and a change of a configuration of the network device are considered, based on the pieces of configuration information. An automation of an operation of updating the software is realized by sending a result of consideration to an agent deployed in the information processing apparatus and causing the information processing apparatus to perform a desired processing.
