A polymer electrolyte composition of a sulfonated block copolymer (A) having a hydrophilic segment with a sulfonic acid group and a hydrophobic segment with no sulfonic acid group, each segment having an aromatic ring is its main chain, and an aromatic polymer (B) having no sulfonic acid group with a structural unit that is identical to the structural unit contained in the hydrophobic segment of the sulfonated block copolymer is provided. The ion-exchange capacity of the composition can be in a range of 0.5 mmol/g to 2.9 mmol/g. Electrolyte membranes, membrane/electrolyte assemblies, and electrolyte fuel cells utilizing the polymer electrolyte composition are also provide.

Polymer electrolyte composition

A method of producing a sulfonated polyarylether block copolymer is provided. The method includes producing a sulfonated polyarylether block copolymer containing a hydrophobic segment having a structural unit represented by formula (5) and a hydrophilic segment having a structural unit having a sulfonic acid groups or derivative thereof incorporated into a structure represented by formula (6). A hydrophilic segment prepolymer having a sulfonic acid group in a potassium salt form and a hydrophobic segment prepolymer are block copolymerized. A proton conductor that includes the sulfonated polyarylether block copolymer is also provided.

A process for packaging an electronic device employs an insulating protective resin layer produced from one or more of the resin compositions: (1) 100 parts of an organic solvent-soluble resin having a polysiloxane skeleton and a polar group, 0.5 to 30 parts of an epoxy compound having an epoxy equivalent of more than 800, and an organic solvent, (2) 100 parts of an organic solvent-soluble resin having a polysiloxane skeleton and a polar group, 0.1 to 10 parts of an epoxy compound having an epoxy equivalent of 100 to 800, 2 to 30 weight parts of a polyvalent isocyanate compound, and an organic solvent; and (3) 100 parts of an organic solvent-soluble resin having a polysiloxane skeleton and a polar group, 0.1 to 20 parts of an epoxy compound having an epoxy equivalent of more than 800, 2 to 30 parts of a polyvalent isocyanate compound, and an organic solvent.

Process for packaging electronic devices

An inexpensive and durable polymer electrolyte composition exhibiting high ionic conductivity even in the absence of water or a solvent, characterized by comprising a molten salt and an aromatic polymer having a carbonyl bond and/or a sulfonyl bond in the main chain thereof and containing a cation exchange group. The aromatic polymer is preferably an aromatic polyether sulfone having a specific structural unit and containing a cation exchange group, an aromatic polyether ketone having a specific structural unit and containing a cation exchange group, or an aromatic polyether sulfone block copolymer and/or an aromatic polyether ketone block copolymer, the block copolymers comprising a hydrophilic segment containing a cation exchange group and a cation exchange group-free hydrophobic segment. The polymer electrolyte composition containing the block copolymer as an aromatic polymer exhibits high structural retention even in high temperatures.

A modified polyimide resin favorably employable for manufacturing an insulation film of an electric-electronic device is composed of recurring units (I) derived from a biphenyltetracarboxylic acid compound, a diamine compound, and a monoamine compound having at least one hydroxyl group and recurring units (II) derived from diisocyanate and polybutadiene having hydroxyl group at each terminal, which optionally contains further recurring units (III) derived from diisocyanate and a compound having hydroxyl group at each terminal and further having a reactive substituent.

Modified polyimide resin and curable resin composition

An inexpensive and durable polyelectrolyte composition includes both an aromatic polymer containing carbonyl linkages and/or sulfonyl linkages in the backbone chain and bearing cation-exchange groups and a fused salt exhibits a high ionic conductivity even in the absence of water or a solvent. The aromatic polymer is preferably an aromatic polyether sulfone comprising specific structural units and bearing cation-exchange groups, an aromatic polyether ketone comprising specific structural units and bearing cation-exchange groups, an aromatic polyether sulfone block copolymer consisting of at least one hydrophilic segment bearing cation-exchange groups and at least one hydrophobic segment free from cation-exchange groups, and/or an aromatic polyether ketone block copolymer consisting of at least one hydrophilic segment bearing cation-exchange groups and at least one hydrophobic segment free from cation-exchange groups. The use of such a block copolymer as the aromatic polymer gives polyelectrolyte compositions which are excellent in maintenance of structure even at high temperature.

Polyelectrolyte compositions

A polymer electrolyte membrane comprising a microporous polymer membrane having pores penetrating through the opposite sides thereof. The microporous polymer membrane holds a mixture of a polymer and a molten salt at a weight ratio of 1/99 to 99/1 and/or a molten salt. The polymer electrolyte membrane is inexpensive, durable, excellent in mechanical strength, excellent in structural retention in high temperatures, and capable of stably holding a molten salt in its porous polymer membrane structure, shows high heat resistance, and secures high ionic conductivity in the absence of water or a solvent and is therefore useful in fuel cells, secondary batteries, electric double layer capacitors, electrolytic capacitors, and the like.

A porous insulating film comprising a highly heat resistant resin film having a fine porous structure with a mean pore size of 0.01-5 &#x3bc;m in at least the center of the film, and a porosity of 15-80%. A laminate is prepared by forming a heat resistant adhesive layer or a conductive metal layer or an inorganic or metal substrate on one or both sides of the porous insulating film or by forming an inorganic or metal substrate on one side of the porous insulating film and a conductive metal layer on the other side.

The polyelectrolyte for a solid polymeric fuel cell is inexpensive and durable, and its proton conductivity is less influenced by humidity and temperature.

A halide gas separating and collecting device for separating and collecting halide gas from mixed gas containing the halide gas, wherein at least first and second stage separating membrane modules are stacked in multiple stages. The method comprises: feeding the mixed gas to the inlet of the first stage separating membrane module, feeding the gas passed through the previous separating membrane module to the inlets of the second and subsequent stage separating membrane modules, recycling the gas unpassed through the second and subsequent stage separating membrane modules to the inlet of the first stage separating membrane module, and controlling the flow of gas unpassed through the first stage separating membrane module by a control valve connected to the unpassed gas outlet of the first stage separating membrane module, whereby the halide gas can be separated and collected as unpassed gas at a high density and a high collection rate.
