A motor with brush includes a rotor having a rotary shaft and a commutator retained at the rotary shaft, two brush sections each having a plane surface in an axial direction of the rotor and in sliding contact with the commutator, and two brush terminals that are integral with the brush sections, respectively. Each of the brush terminals includes a brush connecting section formed in the axial direction of the rotary shaft and having a plane surface that connects to the plane surface of each of the corresponding brush sections, and a bent section that is bent in a direction generally orthogonal to the axial direction of the rotary shaft. The bent section restricts and fixedly positions the brush terminal and the brush section, and the brush terminals connect to external connection members that are provided outside the motor and inside an outer circumference of the motor.

A DC motor with brushes includes a rotary shaft, an armature rotatable with the rotary shaft, a stator magnet disposed opposite to the armature, a commutator affixed on the side of the armature, and a pair of inside and outside brushes retained by a brush holder in a manner that the brushes are brought in contact with a peripheral surface of the commutator. The pair of brushes has an identical configuration. The outside brush is bent in a direction away from the other brush when the pair of the brushes is retained by the brush holder. The outside brush is further bend when in contact with the commutator. The inside brush has an end section extending toward an intermediate point of the outer brush in a longitudinal direction thereof. Each of the outside brush and the inside brush has a base section that is affixed to a terminal and an end section that is brought in contact with the commutator. The end section is bent with respect to the base section such that each of the outside brush and the inside brush defines a generally L-shape.

A motor has a rotatably supported rotor shaft and a rotator that rotates together with the rotor shaft. The rotator includes a shaft insertion section that has an internal peripheral surface and a specified length in an axial direction in which the rotor shaft is inserted. The internal peripheral surface has a first internal peripheral surface of a small diameter and a second internal peripheral surface having a diameter slightly greater than that of the first internal peripheral surface. The first internal peripheral surface engages the rotor shaft under a pressure, and the second internal peripheral surface is slightly spaced a distance from the rotor shaft, such that a gap is created between the second internal peripheral surface and the rotor shaft. The rotor shaft is pressure-inserted in the first internal peripheral surface to be affixed to the rotator, and an adhesive is filled in the gap between the second internal peripheral surface and the rotor shaft to affix the second internal surface to the rotator.

A floppy disk rotating drive mechanism having a metal drive pin configured to withstand high speeds and to prevent damage to a disk by the pin when the disk is chucked. The drive mechanism has a rotation center shaft to engage the center hole in the floppy disk, a rotating unit that rotates with the rotation center shaft, a chucking lever pivotally supported on one end by the rotating unit and provided with the drive pin on the other end. The disk is rotated when the drive pin engages the drive pin engaging hole in the disk positioned eccentrically from the center hole. The drive pin is made of stainless steel and has an inclined upper surface that is higher on an outside portion farther away from the rotating shaft than on an inside portion nearer the rotating shaft. The outer portion of upper surface of the drive pin is also provided with a chamfered section. A front portion of the drive pin in the leading direction of the rotation has curved surface and a back portion of the drive pin has a flat surface.

Rotor assembling method

A disc chucking mechanism includes a turn table 3 on which a disc 19 with a center hole 20 is located, a chucking magnet 10 for magnetically attracting a center hub 21 of the disc 19 to it, and a magnet yoke 60. The magnet yoke 60 includes a ring-like member which is inserted between the turn table 3 and the chucking magnet 10, engaging portions 62 which are extended from the ring-like member of the magnet yoke toward the turn table 3, and brought into engagement with the turn table, and magnet engaging portions 61 which are extended in the direction opposite to the bending direction of the engaging portions 62, and urgingly fix the chucking magnet 10.

Projections 30 of a commutator unit 23 formed on the radial line of slit center positions of commutator piece 26 arranged radially are inserted into through holes 22 made on the center axes of salient poles 19 arranged radially in an armature core 15 and a rotator with high position accuracy of center points with respect to the salient poles 19 is formed. A projection tip face 30c is positioned on a shaft 14 to accurate predetermined dimension A from the rear end of the shaft, whereby accuracy of play gap D can be improved. The commutator unit 23 is reinforced with the projections 30 and wrong form dimensions made due to heat deformation at the soldering treatment time can be prevented.

In one face of an annular permanent magnet 20, notch recesses 30 and 31 are formed in diameter directions which are different in phase by 90.degree. and used as positioning recesses 30 and fixing recesses 31. The positioning recesses 30 are positioned with respect to a mounting jig 41 by keys 61 which are similar to a magnetizing head, and fixed in the portions of the fixing recesses 31 by plastic working which is performed on an end face 62 of a case 18 by incision and bend cutters 48. Therefore, both the magnetization and the mounting can be performed by using the same reference, i.e., the positioning recesses 30 of the permanent magnet 20, and hence the accuracy of the magnetized positions can be ensured.

After a coil 24 is wound through an open slot 26 which forms a sufficient space for the winding operation of an armature core 10, a magnetic member 34 is inserted and mounted into the open slot 26 and is then engaged with and fixed to the umbrella portions 20 of the armature core 10. A gap 36 formed in the central portion of the open slot 26 operates to narrow a gap between the magnetic poles of mutually adjoining salient poles 16, which reduces not only the generation of cogging phenomena and vibrations but also variations in quality between products, that is, the armature cores 10 produced.
