A reflex reflector includes: a first resin layer and a second resin layer that are integrated together; a retroreflective interface that is an interface between the first resin layer and the second resin layer, and a retroreflective uneven surface, wherein a refractive index of the first resin layer is greater than a refractive index of the second resin layer; and an islands-shaped metal layer that is provided on the retroreflective interface and capable of transmitting radar wave from a radar unit, wherein a dielectric constant difference between the first resin layer and the second resin layer is within 5%.

Reflex reflector and lamp device including the reflex reflector

A lamp device of the present invention includes a lamp unit comprised of a light source and a reflector having a mirror part which reflects light from the light source forward, and a radar unit arranged behind the lamp unit. The radar unit is arranged so that at least a portion of the mirror part falls within a radiation range of an electromagnetic wave radiated from the radar unit. The mirror part includes a resin member and a light reflecting surface formed on a surface of the resin member and comprised of an island-shaped metallic layer having metallic luster.

Lamp device

A lamp device includes: a lamp unit; a radar unit having an antenna; and a shielding member which covers at least a part of the front surface of the radar unit where the antenna is provided and which is made of a foamed resin.

Apparatus and method for growing nitride semiconductor crystal film

A backlight device for LCD displays can include a light-emitting source of the type that includes a cold-cathode or hot-cathode fluorescent tube that is lit with a high-frequency power supply. The high-frequency power supply can be PWM-controlled to adjust the brightness. The high-frequency power supply can also be randomly phase-modulated with an irregular modulation code to light the fluorescent tube. This enables the infrared radiation from the fluorescent tube to be spread over a wider band such that the level thereof is lowered to a level that does not interfere with typical remote controls.

Backlight device and method for LCD displays

The disclosed subject matter includes a fluorescent lamp and particularly a cold cathode fluorescent lamp that can be employed as a light source for a LCD backlight unit for a television, a computer, a display, and the like. The fluorescent lamp can include a couple of electrode units located opposite to each other at each end of a tube, a couple of welding beads sealing both the tube and the couple of electrode units, and a filler gas located in the tube. Each of the electrode units can include an emitter electrode that is configured with a crystalline silicon semiconductor material having an electrical conductivity or configured with other semiconductor materials, and can include a concave portion formed thereon. The electrode units can prevent blackening on an inner surface of the tube by avoiding the occurrence of spattering. Thus, the fluorescent lamp using the electrode units can enjoy a long life, high reliability, easy manufacture, and the like.

Fluorescent lamp

A microwave source systemextracts power in a predetermined microwave frequency band out of thermal noise power generated by a resistor () by using filter means (), amplifies the power through a first amplifier () and a second amplifier (), and outputs the power. The first amplifier () is variably controllable in gain and control means () controls the gain in such a way as to maintain the intensity of the microwave power output from the first amplifierat a predetermined constant value. The second amplifier () has a predetermined gain. The resistor () is attached to one of the first amplifier () and the second amplifier (), for example, to the second amplifier (). Thereby, the resistor () receives heat from the amplifier (). Output of the microwave source system () is supplied to, for example, a microwave discharge lamp (). The microwave source system () having the above configuration can be compact and inexpensive without a need for a magnetron or a high voltage power supply.

Microwave source system

The disclosed subject matter includes a filament electrode that can include a filament coil connected with a pair of lead wires with confidence. It is possible for a fluorescent lamp using the filament electrode to emit light with a wider range while located in a thin tube. The filament electrode can include a pair of connecting pipes, a pair of lead wires located parallel to each other, and a filament coil including two connecting parts. Each of the two connecting parts of the filament coil can attach to respective ends of the pair of lead wires via the pair of connecting pipes via pressure bonding so as not to contact the connecting parts of the filament coil with the ends of the pair of lead wires located in the pair of connecting pipes and so as to align the structures. Thus, the filament electrode can be used even in a thin glass or quartz tube and can provide an effective heat-shield operation.

Filament electrode and fluorescent lamp

A method for manufacturing a hot cathode fluorescent lamp can ensure or facilitate stable initial luminous intensity and provide improved product life characteristics even when the hot cathode fluorescent lamp employs a glass tube with an outer diameter of less than 7 mm&#x3c6;. One end of a glass tube can be sealed with a glass bead of a mount structure. The other opening end of the glass tube can be welded with an opening end of an exhaust pipe with bent portions of lead wires being sandwiched between the opening ends of the glass tube and the exhaust pipe. After evacuating a vacuum system that is constituted by the inner spaces of the glass tube and the exhausted pipe communicating with each other, the bent portions of the lead wires which extrude outside the vacuum system can be clamp-connected to power source lines extending from an external power source. The emitter of the filaments can be activated by the generated heat of the filament. After supplying mercury and a rare gas into the glass tube, the glass bead can be sealed, and unnecessary portions of the glass tube, the exhaust pipe, and the lead wires can be removed to complete the hot cathode fluorescent lamp, in accordance with one aspect of the disclosed subject matter.

Method for manufacturing hot cathode fluorescent lamp

The disclosed subject matter includes a fluorescent lamp and particularly a cold cathode fluorescent lamp that can be employed as a light source for a LCD backlight unit for a television, a computer, a display, and the like. The fluorescent lamp can include a couple of electrode units located opposite to each other at each end of a tube, a couple of welding beads sealing both the tube and the couple of electrode units, and a filler gas located in the tube. Each of the electrode units can include an emitter electrode that is configured with a crystalline silicon carbide material having an electrical conductivity and including a concave portion formed thereon. The electrode units can prevent blackening on an inner surface of the tube by avoiding the occurrence of spattering. Thus, the fluorescent lamp using the electrode units can enjoy a long life, high reliability, easy manufacture, and the like.

A lighting system includes a microwave resonator () for generating a standing microwave in the internal space, and a gas cell () enclosing a medium is disposed in the internal space of the microwave resonator. The lighting system excites the medium in the gas cell () by the standing microwave to generate light. The gas cell () is replaceably mounted on the microwave resonator (). The generated light is output to the outside of the microwave resonator () through a light lead-out hole (). Thereby, it is possible to provide a lighting system (including a gas laser) capable of emitting light efficiently with a compact and inexpensive device configuration and of achieving a long life. Moreover, it can also be used as a lighting system in the THz-wave region by enclosing the medium for generating light in the far-infrared region in the gas cell ().

Lighting system

A compact millimeter wave radar transceiver at low cost is provided wherein a direct current voltage applying circuit is coupled to a high frequency line to apply a fast pulse wave without losing a sharp input pulse pattern. A voltage is applied to a negative resistance diode, such as a Gunn diode, which is variably controlled to vary the diode oscillating frequency signal, which signal is outputted as a transmitting wave. The transmitted wave is reflected by a target and received by the negative resistance diode. The received wave is detected as a heterodyne detection utilizing a non-linear property of the negative resistance diode. A frequency difference between the transmitted wave and the received reflected wave is outputted via a low-pass filter and processed to detect the target. To keep the sharp pulse wave pattern for applying to the high frequency line, a Y-shaped power distributor, &ldquo;Wilkinson divider&rdquo;, consisting of &lgr;/4 (&lgr; designates wave length) line elements Z , Z and Z , is between a capacitor connected to a high frequency input/output terminal and a direct current voltage input terminal to provide a leakage power suppressing effect between the latter terminals.

Radar transceiver

A high-frequency circuit board free from variations in transmission impedance and having the desired characteristics is produced. A surface of a resin substrate is activated to form a roughened surface, and a thin-wall pattern of an electrically conductive metal is formed directly on the roughened surface of the resin substrate.
