A classifying tray apparatus is provided with a plurality of sheet end receiving rollers for arranging each rear end portion of the sheets stacked on a sheet discharge tray. Each sheet end receiving roller stands rotatably on a main body of the classifying tray apparatus so as to rotate, in accordance with the horizontal movement of the sheet discharge tray in a direction perpendicular to a discharge direction, while being in contact with the sheets stacked on the sheet discharge tray or with the sheet discharge tray, thereby avoiding the unevenness of the sheets stacked on the sheet discharge tray.

Classifying tray apparatus

A copying machine has a top wall with a slit which remains covered during a copying operation by a board for carrying an original to be copied. When the machine is not in use, the board can be moved so as to expose the slit. The slit is elongated transversely to the direction of motion of the board and a passage is provided under the top wall and through a reflector member such that a tubular cleaner member can be not only inserted through the slit to reach an internal component such as the charger wire which requires cleaning but also moved transversely along the slit. Thus, the internal component can be cleaned without removing the top wall.

A sheet resist apparatus disposed in a transporting path of a recording sheet transported from a sheet supplying unit to an image forming unit in an image forming apparatus, includes: a pair of first rollers disposed in the transporting path; a pair of second rollers disposed in the transporting path at a downstream of the first rollers; a first driving device for rotating the first rollers to transport the recording sheet toward the second rollers; and a second driving device for rotating the second rollers to transport the recording sheet, which is transported from the first rollers, toward the image forming unit in synchronization with a timing of image-formation of the image forming unit. The sheet resist apparatus further includes: a sensor disposed between the first rollers and the second rollers for detecting a tip of the recording sheet transported from the first rollers; and a control device for controlling the first and second driving devices on a basis of a result of detection of the sensor, such that the first driving device stops driving once before the tip of the recording sheet reaches the second rollers, and such that the first driving device resumes driving earlier than the second driving device starts driving by a predetermined time period.

Sheet resist apparatus

A device for storing rectangular sheets to be fed into a sheet conveying path in an image forming apparatus comprises a sheet tray for stacking thereon the rectangular sheets. The movable tray having a first and second sides used for longitudinal and lateral feeds of a sheet with respect to the sheet conveying path, respectively, is movably supported on a base member for the movement between a first and second positions at which the first and second sides of the sheet tray are located at a constant position for the longitudinal and lateral feeds of the sheet, respectively. A connecting member is joined to the sheet tray at a position near the intersection of the first and second sides thereof. A reciprocating device is provided for causing the sheet tray to be moved between the first and second positions by reciprocating the connecting member in a direction transverse to the feeding direction of the sheet with respect to the sheet conveying path. A locking device is provided for locking the sheet tray to the base plate at diagonal positions to the connecting member with respect to the first and second positions of the sheet tray.
