A first magnetic core has a first portion that determines the track width, a second portion extending from the first portion substantially vertically, a third portion that extends from the second portion substantially vertically and is longer than the first track width, and a fourth portion extending from the third portion substantially vertically. The first to fourth portions form a substantially rectangular ring-like shape with its portion between the first and second portions being notched. A second magnetic core has a fifth portion longer than the first track width, a sixth portion extending from the fifth portion substantially vertically, and a seventh portion extending from the sixth portion substantially vertically. The fifth to seventh portions form substantially the shape of letter C. The first and second magnetic cores are joined to each other so that the first and fifth portions are joined through a gap spacer, the outer circumferential surfaces of the first and fifth portions form a surface to be brought into slidable contact with a magnetic medium, and at least parts of the third and seventh portions and at least parts of the fourth and sixth portions are respectively stacked and joined to each other.

A magnetic head device includes a magnetic head for magnetically recording information on and/or reproducing information from a magnetic tape, a first pair of tape guides, each of which is formed as a single part and fixed to side surfaces on both sides of the magnetic head in a magnetic tape running direction, and a guide unit including (i) a second pair of tape guides which are independent of the first pair of tape guides and are arranged on the outside of the first pair of tape guides along the magnetic tape running direction and (ii) an opening portion to insert the magnetic head to which the first pair of tape guides is fixed in an almost center portion in the magnetic tape running direction. The guide unit and the second pair of tape guides are formed as one unit, and the magnetic head, in which an azimuth adjustment was performed in the opening portion and to which the first pair of tape guides is fixed, is fixed to the opening portion.

Magnetic head device

A magnetic head with the least cross-talk due to leakage magnetic flux in the shield case accommodating therein the magnetic head, the reduction in the cross-talk being realized by chamfering at least one side of an opening formed in the shield case, which are substantially perpendicular to the travelling direction of a magnetic recording medium, in a slant or arcuate surface form.

Magnetic head

In a magnetic head, a core half having a coil wound thereon and a core half having no coil wound thereon are disposed in abutting relationship with each other to form a magnetic gap. A projected portion is provided on a part of one core half in order to reduce the amount of induced noise produced in the coil by a noise magnetic flux entering from the front of the magnetic gap. The core half having a coil wound thereon and belonging to one magnetic head element and the core half having no coil wound thereon and belonging to another magnetic head element are opposed to each other to provide a compact multi-element magnetic head having reduced induced noise. Further, the magnetic head elements in the multi-element magnetic head present a minimum amount of induced noise for the noise magnetic flux entering from the front of the magnetic gap.
