The lens driving device includes an auto-focusing driving part and a shake-correcting driving part utilizing a voice coil motor. A shake-correcting magnet part of the shake-correcting driving part is comprised of two shake-correcting magnets disposed on two orthogonal sides of four sides that define a rectangle in a plane perpendicular to the light axis direction. An auto-focusing magnet part of the auto-focusing driving part is comprised of at least one of the shake-correcting magnets. An auto-focusing supporting part of the auto-focusing driving part is fixed on at least one side of the rectangle where the auto-focusing magnet part is not disposed, and elastically supports an auto-focusing movable part with respect to an auto-focusing fixing part in a cantilever fashion.

The arms are made of an elastic material, with two hinge sections () thinner than surrounding structures and axes orthogonal to the optical axis, that move together with the auto focus movable section towards the optical axis. The arms bend in opposite directions at the two hinge sections. The reinforcing sections are made of a material more rigid than the elastic material of the arms, and are disposed between the two hinge sections of the arms.

A lens drive apparatus has: a magnet and a coil configured to displace the lens holder in a direction of an optical axis and a direction orthogonal to the optical axis in collaboration with each other. The coil includes first and second coils. The magnet includes first and second magnets. The first coil is disposed on an outer periphery of the lens holder. The first magnet, the second magnet, the second coil and a Hall device are each disposed to be spaced from the outer periphery of the lens holder at respective positions different from each other in the direction of the optical axis. Inner surfaces of the magnets at a side of the lens holder and outer surfaces of the magnets at an opposite side of the inner surfaces have reverse polarities, the inner surfaces have reverse polarities, and the outer surfaces have reverse polarities.

A lens drive device has a support section for supporting a shake correction movable section relative to a shake correction stationary section. The support section has: an upper frame body; a plate-shaped first side support body for connecting the upper frame body and the shake correction stationary section; and a plate-shaped second side support body for connecting the upper frame body and the shake correction movable section. The first side support body and the second side support body are formed from an elastomeric material. As the shake correction movable section moves in a first direction, the first side support body is bent in the opposite directions at two Y-hinge sections extending in a second direction. A lens drive device is provided with: an AF drive unit that has an AF coil unit and an AF magnet unit and automatically carries out focusing by moving an AF movable unit with respect to an AF fixed unit, making use of drive force from a voice coil motor; and a base unit disposed with an intervening space on the image formation side of the AF drive unit in the direction of the optical axis. The AF drive unit has elastic support units connecting the AF movable unit and the AF fixed unit. The AF movable unit is affixed to the AF fixed unit by being pressed upward to the light receiving side in the direction of the optical axis by the AF magnet unit and urged toward the image formation side in the direction of the optical axis by the elastic support units.
