Vehicle airbag system

An instrument panel which is supported at a cowl panel at a front-side portion thereof is provided. The cowl panel includes an upper face wall which faces to a windshield from below, a bending portion which is formed at a rear end of the upper face wall and bendable in a vehicle collision, and a rear face wall which extends downward from the bending portion and has a lower portion connecting to a dash panel. The instrument panel includes a first restriction portion to restrict a downward move of the instrument panel by contacting the upper face wall of the cowl member, and a second restriction portion to restrict an upward move of the instrument panel by said rear face wall of the cowl member at a lower portion of the front-side portion thereof.

Instrument panel support structure of vehicle

A container holding device of the invention is used for holding small things and a container. The container holding device includes a base having a bottom section and an upstanding section extending upwardly from the bottom section, a support member formed near an upper surface section of the upstanding section, and an arm member rotationally attached to the support member to take first and second positions. The bottom section and the upstanding section define at least a part of a holding space in the base. At the first position, the arm member is located on the upper surface section. The arm member can be located above the bottom section, i.e. second position, by changing the position to thereby form a container holding hole together with the upstanding section.

A knee protector structure comprises a transverse frame member extending in the transverse direction of a vehicle body below an instrument panel provided in front of the front seat, a center bracket an upper portion of which is connected to a body panel in front of the front seat substantially at the middle between right and left sides and a lower portion of which is connected to the floor of the vehicle body. The frame member is connected to the cabside at an outer end portion and to the center bracket at an inner end portion. A knee pad is supported by a bracket member connected to the frame member at a front end portion and to the knee pad at a rear end portion.

A knee protector in an automobile which comprises an instrument panel arranged in front of a seat within a passenger compartment of the automobile and exiting widthwise of the automobile, and having an opening defined therein, a lid similar in shape to the contour of the opening and supported by the instrument for selectively closing and opening the opening in the instrument panel, a first protector member provided inside the lid, a pair of pin members spaced a distance from each other in a direction widthwise of the automobile and secured to the first protector member so as to protrude in a direction close towards the instrument panel, and a second protector member provided inside the instrument panel and having separate engagement regions defined therein for engagement with the respective pin members when a load acting in a direction frontwardly of the automobile acts on the lid.
