A burring method forms a boss on a metal sheet, using a press die including: a die with a burring hole formed therein; and a burring punch having a shape adapted to be inserted into the burring hole. In the burring method, a width of a clearance formed between the burring hole and the burring punch is in a range not less than 60% and not more than 115%, preferably not less than 65% and not more than 100%, and more preferably, not less than 75% and not more than 95%, of a thickness of the metal sheet, before the metal sheet goes through a burring process.

A method for manufacturing the half body portions of a magnetic tape cassette or the like having an image transfer layer on its outer surface. An image transfer film is placed in a molding cavity, which film includes a base layer, a matting layer, and an image transfer layer. The function of the matting layer is to roughen the surface of the image transfer layer, while allowing easy subsequent peeling therefrom. A molten plastic is injected into the molding cavity against the image transfer layer. After the resulting product solidifies, the product is removed from the molding cavity, and the base layer and matting layer are peeled from the product, leaving the image transfer layer on an outside surface of the product.

Method for manufacturing magnetic tape cassette

A method for image-transfer molding half portions of a casing body of a magnetic tape cassette in which no portions of an image transfer film are left in the cassette holes. The image transfer film includes a base layer, a peeling layer, a protective layer, an ink layer, and an adhesive layer. A band of the image transfer film is pinched between dies for molding said half portion, with the adhesive layer positioned so as to abut an outer surface of the molded half portion. A pair of pins is placed in the dies in a position where a hole is to be formed in the half portion, with an end of one of the pins having a peripheral edge portion projecting in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pin and forming a recess receiving the end of the other of said pins with a portion of the image transfer film sandwiched therebetween. The ends of the pins cooperate to sever the image transfer film along the peripheral edge except for the base layer so that the base layer can be peeled away leaving no portions of the image transfer film in the holes.

Molding method for magnetic tape cassette

A magnetic tape cassette having an improved tape guide structure and ease of assembly. Tape guides are arranged on both sides of the front opening of the magnetic cassette, the guides being adapted to be brought into sliding contact with the magnetic tape to guide the latter. Each tape guide is in the form of a solid post. Holding members adapted to hold these tape guides are formed on one of upper and lower half cases of the cassette, and tape guides are fixedly inserted into grooves formed in the holding members, with each groove having a portion which is broader than its opening.

A magnetic disc cartridge contains a pair of dust liners sandwiching the magnetic disc. Each liner has a double layer construction consisting of an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer is an unwoven cloth layer which has a high surface resistivity, which is electrostatically chargeable, and which attracts and absorbs dust particles, while the inner layer, which faces the disc, is apertured and is impregnated with a surface agent to produce a much lower surface resistivity to preclude a static charge, so that, during dynamic operation of the disc, the differential charge that exists in the inner/outer layers causes dust particles to pass through the apertured inner layer and become entrapped in the charged outer layer.

A magnetic tape cassette having an improved tape running performance brought about by improvements in tape guides of the cassette. In accordance with the invention, the tape guides are made of a synthetic resin whose surface resistivity is adjusted to fall within the range of 10.sup.3 to 10.sup.9 ohm-cm. Preferably, the guides are made of a plastic resin which contains a lubricant, carbon fibers, and carbon black.

A pair of friction sheets loosely disposed between the opposite end faces of wind-up cores and the inner surfaces of a cassette casing in a magnetic tape cassette are loosely engaged with posts of rotatable guide rollers and guide pins in the cassette so that the opposite side edges of the magnetic tape may be guided by the friction sheets substantially throughout its path and the tape may be fed in a stable manner. Engaging portions of the friction sheets may have protruded portions protruded toward the inner surfaces of the casing to guide the tape with sufficient friction. When the magnetic tape cassette is put into a cassette tape recorder, the tape travels stably with respect to the magnetic head of the recorder.

In a magnetic recording tape cassette, a pad supporting member which supports a tape pad for backing the recording tape against the magnetic head of a recording/reproducing system comprises upper and lower halves. Each half includes a pad supporting portion and a pair of arm portions extending from either side of the pad supporting portion and the halves are connected with each other at the respective free ends of the arm portions with the pad supporting portions being separated from each other by a slit. The upper portion of the pad is bonded to the pad supporting portion of the upper half of the supporting member and the lower portion of the pad is bonded to the lower half, whereby the upper and lower portions can be flexed independently from each other.
