An object is irradiated with a laser light modulated by a reflection type spatial light modulator such that aberration of the laser light converged inside the object becomes a predetermined aberration or less. Therefore, aberration of the laser light generated at a position on which a converging point of the laser light is located is made as small as possible, to enhance the energy density of the laser light at that position, which makes it possible to form a modified region with a high function as a starting point for cutting. In addition, because the reflection type spatial light modulator is used, it is possible to improve the utilization efficiency of the laser light as compared with a transmissive type spatial light modulator.

Provided is an airbag device in which an inflator can be fixedly mounted easily. An airbag apparatus for a vehicle includes an airbag having a left airbag section and a right airbag section inflatable at left and right sides in a front area of an occupant, a retainer for retaining the airbag, and a first deployment-limiting sheet having one end coupled to the airbag or the retainer. The first deployment-limiting sheet at least partly overlaps the airbag and extends along the airbag from a rear portion to a front portion of the airbag. The first deployment-limiting sheet extends along the rear portion of the airbag during inflation thereof.

Method of manufacturing airbag

Starting point regions for cuttingextending along lines to cutare initially formed in an object to be processed. The starting point regions for cuttinghave modified regionsformed by irradiating the objectwith laser light while locating a converging point within the objectand are formed in parts extending along the lines to cutexcluding portionsintersecting the lines to cut. This makes the starting point regions for cuttingmuch less influential when cutting the objectfrom the starting point regions for cuttingacting as a start point, whereby bars with precise cleavage surfaces can reliably be obtained. Therefore, it is unnecessary to form a starting point region for cutting along the lines to cutin each of a plurality of bars, whereby the productivity of semiconductor laser elements can be improved.

An airbag to be inflated by gas for a vehicle includes a base member for the airbag, an opening and closing vent provided in the base member, and a discharging gas control member for restraining gas from discharging from the opening and closing vent. The discharging gas control member closes or slightly opens the opening and closing vent when an occupant does not contact a front surface of the airbag facing the occupant when the airbag is inflated. The discharging gas control member opens or widely opens the opening and closing vent so as to allow the gas to be discharged from the opening and closing vent when the occupant contacts the front surface of the airbag, and the front surface is pushed in a direction opposite to the occupant.

Provided are an airbag and an airbag device whose size of a package when the airbag is folded can be reduced while demonstrating effects of an inner chamber. An airbag device in the present invention includes a gas generator configured to generate gas under predetermined conditions, an airbag connected to the gas generator to be inflated and deployed, and a retainer configured to accommodate the airbag. The airbag includes an inner panel arranged in the interior thereof and a connection panel having a surface area smaller than the inner panel, and the inner panel includes a center seamed portion connected to an inner surface of the airbag with respect to the direction of thickness and a plurality of outer peripheral seamed portions connected to the connection panel which is arranged on the inner surface of the airbag apart from the portion where the center seamed portion is connected. The outline of the inner panelbetween the outer peripheral seamed portions when the inner panel is deployed in a plane is formed into a shape following a straight line connecting the outer peripheral seamed portions.

An airbag and an airbag device are provided in which an openable-closable vent hole opens or significantly opens even if an object, such as a child seat, comes into contact with a lower portion of the airbag in an inflated state. A covering member () covers an openable-closable vent hole () from the outside of an airbag (). An upper tether () routed through an upper constantly open vent hole () and in the inside of the airbag () connects the covering member and a near-passenger face () of the airbag (). A lower tether () routed through a lower constantly open vent hole () and in the inside of the airbag () connects the covering member and a lower portion () of the airbag (). When a passenger comes into contact with the near-passenger face () of the airbag (), the upper tether () loosens and the covering member () is turned up, whereby the openable-closable vent hole () opens. When a child seat () comes into contact with the lower portion () of the airbag (), the lower tether () loosens and the covering member () is turned up, whereby the openable-closable vent hole () opens.
