A non-contact communication medium according to an embodiment of the present technology is a non-contact communication medium for a recording medium cartridge, including: a circuit component; a support substrate; and an antenna coil. The circuit component has a memory unit capable of storing management information relating to the recording medium cartridge therein. The support substrate supports the circuit component. The antenna coil includes a coil unit that is electrically connected to the circuit component and formed on the support substrate, an inductance value of the coil unit being 0.3 &#x3bc;H or more and 2.0 &#x3bc;H or less.

A cartridge memory used for a tape cartridge includes: a communication unit that communicates with a recording and reproducing device using a wireless communication method defined by an ISO 14443-2 standard which is a wireless communication standard; a non-volatile memory with a storage capacity exceeding 16 KB; and a control unit that writes or reads data to or from the non-volatile memory on a word-by-word basis (2 bytes at a time) or on a block-by-block basis (32 bytes at a time). The non-volatile memory includes a plurality of memory banks each having a storage capacity of 128 KB or less. The control unit writes or reads data defined by a magnetic tape standard to or from one or two or more first memory banks among the plurality of the memory banks, and writes or reads additional data to or from one or two or more second memory banks other than the first memory bank.

The present technology relates an antenna apparatus and a communication apparatus that make it possible to miniaturize the antenna apparatus and improve communication performance. A solenoid-coil-type solenoid antenna and a metal plate disposed to have an overlapping portion with the solenoid antenna in a length direction of the solenoid antenna are included. The overlapping portion includes a portion corresponding to a length of 50% to 80% of a length of the solenoid antenna. Furthermore, a slit is formed in the metal plate, and the solenoid antenna is disposed in parallel to the slit. It is possible to apply the present technology to an antenna apparatus included in a communication apparatus that performs wireless communication.

A recording medium cartridge according to an embodiment of the present technology includes: an information recording medium; a first cartridge memory; and a second cartridge memory. A power receiving device of the disclosure includes a power generator, a detector, and a controller. The power generator includes a power receiving element that receives a power signal supplied in a wireless manner from a power feeding device, and generates direct current power on the basis of the power signal. The detector includes a detection element, and drives the detection element and detects an alternating current signal generated in the detection element, during a power receiving period in which the power receiving element receives the power signal. The controller controls the power feeding device on the basis of a detection result of the detector.

This technology relates to a communication apparatus and a communication method adapted to improve the deterioration of communication performance due to variations in parts, for example. A test signal generating section generates a predetermined test signal. A detecting section detects, given a received test signal obtained by a transmitting and receiving section upon receipt of the test signal, an influence parameter affecting the intensity of an active load modulation signal that combines a transmission carrier with a synchronizing signal synchronized with a received signal obtained upon receipt of the transmission carrier. A receiver of the disclosure includes: a load modulator that transmits an active load modulation signal generated by active load modulation to a reader writer, in response to a carrier signal transmitted from the reader writer; and a controller that determines whether the active load modulation signal has reached the reader writer, and controls the load modulator to retransmit the active load modulation signal, after changing a phase of the active load modulation signal with respect to the carrier signal, in a case where the controller determines that the active load modulation signal has not reached the reader writer.
