A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises an electroconductive substrate; and a photosensitive layer formed on the electroconductive substrate. The photosensitive layer includes a charge generating substance and a charge transporting substance including at least one hydrazone compound represented by general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an aryl group, and each of R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, aralkyl group and heterocyclic group.

A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises an electroconductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed thereon and including a novel compound as a charge transporting substance. This compound is represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein, R1 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group, each of R2 and R3 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group and a heterocyclic group, the last two groups of which may be substituted and n is an integer of 1 or 2.

A photoconductor for electrophotography includes an electroconductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed on the substrate. The photosensitive layer includes a novel azo compound as a charge generating substance therein. One example of the azo compound is represented by general formula: ##STR1## wherein A stands for a coupler residue, and each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group.
