A reflective screen that displays an image by reflecting light from a light source includes a reflective sheet, a light-scattering sheet, and an adhesive layer bonding the reflective sheet to the light-scattering sheet. The adhesive layer contains a coloring material that absorbs light in a particular wavelength region.

A screen for displaying an image by projection light includes: a selectively reflective layer having reflection properties with respect to light in a specific wavelength region corresponding to the projection light, and having absorption properties with respect to light in a wavelength region other than the specific wavelength region. And the selectively reflective layer includes an optical multilayer film having a dielectric film and a light-absorbing thin film having transmission properties, and a reflective layer for reflecting light which has passed through the optical multilayer film.

There is provided a screen, which, with a simple configuration, is capable of effectively utilizing light projected thereon and realizing an even luminance distribution on the screen. A projection screen includes a plurality of convex portions serving as a light diffusion control portion, on the surface of a substrate. An optical thin film overlies the substrate and has convex portions having the same shape as that of the convex portions of the substrate. When external light enters the optical thin film with light in three primary color wavelength bands, the optical thin film reflects only the light in the three color wavelength bands and absorbs at least visible light of the external light. When light in the three primary color wavelength bands perpendicularly enters the optical thin film, the rays of the light have incident angles at the convex portions of the optical thin film and diffuse-reflected at angles twice the incident angles. Thus, a predetermined percentage of the light is diffused to increase the viewing angle of the screen.

The projection screen according to the present invention is a projection screen for projecting thereupon narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light to display an image, and comprises an optical thin film () which has high reflection properties regarding the narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light, and has high transmission properties regarding at least visible wavelength band light other than the wavelength band light, on a screen base (). With the projection screen according to the present invention configured as above, the optical thin film () serves as a so-called band filter. That is to say, the optical thin film () particularly reflects narrow-band tricolor wavelength band light and transmits light of other wavelengths, thereby functioning as a narrow-band tricolor wavelength bandwidth filter acting to separate these.
