After displaying information () on the surface of an outer wall () of a cell structure, a portion surrounding the displayed information () is coated with a coating agent to form a region permeated with a coating agent () wherein pores () of the outer wall () are filled with the coating agent in a section of the outer wall () on which the information () is displayed. The region permeated with a coating agent () prevents a catalyst solution from exuding from the inside of the outer wall () of the cell structure. According to a method for protecting the displayed information and the cell structure of which surface information is protected by the protection method, a displayed information portion after loading catalyst components is prevented from being colored, and the displayed information can be maintained in a readable state.

A method for assembling a cell structure in a metal vessel, including reading information as indicia located on a surface of a compressible material having a cushioning property, the information regarding the thickness and/or bulk density of the compressible material; selecting a cell structure, a metal vessel, and a compressible material which, when assembled as a cell structure housed in a metal vessel, have a proper holding condition based on the read information; assembling the selected cell structure in the selected metal vessel via the selected compressible material, the compressible material being located in a compressed state between an outer periphery of the cell structure and the metal vessel to hold the selected cell structure in the selected metal vessel.

A glass ceramic substrate containing mica and having an electrically conductive film formed thereon includes a bonding layer made of a material including at least silicon oxide, which is formed on a portion of one of the opposite surfaces of the glass ceramic substrate containing mica. The electrically conductive film is formed on the bonding layer and has a major component consisting of at least one element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, tantalum and chromium.
