A connector includes a first housing () with two detection terminals (), a resilient deflecting portion () in a second housing (), a shorting terminal fitting () in the second housing (), wiping portions () integrally formed to the shorting terminal fitting () and configured such that the detection terminals () slide in contact therewith in the process of connecting the first and second housings (), and a resilient contact piece () integrally formed to the shorting terminal fitting () and configured to be resiliently displaced to a retracted position, where the resilient contact piece is not in contact with the detection terminals (), as the resilient deflecting portion () is resiliently deflected and resiliently return to a short-circuit position, where the resilient contact piece contacts the detection terminals (), and short the detection terminals () as the resilient deflecting portion () resiliently turns.

Connector

A board connector (M) includes a housing () formed from first and second separately formed moldings (). The first molding () includes a terminal holding portion () and a base-side peripheral wall (). The second molding () is tubular and includes a tip-side peripheral wall () with a supporting shaft () and ribs () projecting integrally in from an inner surface of the tip-side peripheral wall (). The base-side peripheral wall () and the tip-side peripheral wall () are assembled to form a receptacle () projecting forward from an outer peripheral edge of the terminal holding portion (). A supporting shaft () and ribs () are formed integrally with the receptacle () and project from an inner wall surface of the receptacle ().

Board connector

A flexing strip () is formed on a housing (). An interference part () is formed on a fit-on detector (). A distinguishing part () having a color different from the fit-on detector () is formed on the flexing strip (). The flexing strip () interferes with the interference part () and deforms while moving the fit-on detector () from a wait position to a detection position. The flexing strip () is released from an interference state with the interference part () and elastically restores to its original state when the fit-on detector () has reached the detection position. A position of the distinguishing part () relative to the interference part () changes before and after a flexing of the flexing strip () so that the distinguishing part () is exposed and can be seen from a distinguishing position.

Detecting connector

An opening () where two terminal fittings () are exposed is formed in a surface of a housing (). A connection detecting member () is movable along the surface of the housing () between a retracted position and a detection position. The connection detecting member () has a shorting terminal mounting portion () into which a shorting terminal () is mounted. The shorting terminal () holds the terminal fittings () in a shorted state and releases the shorted state as the two housings () are connected properly and the connection detecting member () reaches the detection position. The connection detecting member () is arranged at a height position overlapping a deformation space for a lock arm () between the housing () and the lock arm (). The shorting terminal mounting portion () projects lateral to the lock arm () while extending along the surface of the housing ().

A female housing () has a lever () to facilitate connection with a male housing (). An operable portion () of the lever () is at a lateral end of the female housing () immediately before the housings () are connected and is operated along a connecting direction of the male housing (). An engaging portion () is formed at an end of the lever () opposite the operable portion () and is engageable with a locking projection () on the male housing () immediately before the housings () are connected properly. Thus, the locking projection () receives a force acting along the connecting direction of the male housing () as the lever () is rotated. In this way, the posture of the female housing () is corrected, enabling the two housings () to be connected in their proper postures.

Connector and connector assembly of the movable member type

A lever () formed with a cam groove () is rotatably mounted and a detecting terminal () is mounted in a female housing (). The detecting terminal () contacts contact terminals () in the female housing () to close a detecting circuit only when the housings () are connected properly. A pressing portion () projects from part of a cam plate () of the lever () facing the detecting terminal (), and keeps pressing the detecting terminal () to deform the detecting terminalto a position where the detecting terminal () is separated from the contact terminals () while the lever () is rotated until the housings () are connected properly. The pressed state is canceled to enable the detecting terminal () to contact the contact terminals () when the leveris rotated to a position where the housings () are connected properly.

Connector and a connector assembly

A connector has first and second housings () that are connectable with each other. The second housing () has second terminal fittings (), second detecting terminals () and short canceling members (). The first housing () has shorting terminals () for shorting pairs of the first terminal fittings, a resilient arm () that deforms as the housings () are connected, and first detecting terminals () that deform as the resilient arm () is deformed to touch the second detecting terminals () for detecting the connected state. The resilient arm () is held deformed and the first detecting terminals () are held in contact with the second detecting terminals () until a connecting operation is completed. The resilient arm () resiliently restores to separate the first detecting terminals () from the second detecting terminals () when the connection is completed.

Connector and a method for controlling the assembly thereof

A lever () is mounted rotatably on a female housing () and includes a cam plate () with a cam groove (). The cam plate () is arranged on only one surface of the female housing (). In addition to an engaged position of a cam groove () and a cam pin (), a position is set between the lever () and a male housing () to produce forces to pull the housings () towards each other. For example, a hook () is formed on a posture correcting arm () at a position facing the cam plate () of the lever () and engages a receiving portion () in the male housing () to pull the housings () together.

Connector having a movable member

A connector assembly has first and second housings (). Terminal fittings () are inserted into cavities () of the second housing () and are locked partially by locks formed in the second housing (). A slider () is mounted in second housing () and engages a cam () in the first housing () to generate a cam action that helps to connect the housings (). The slider () has at least one retaining portion () that secondarily locks properly inserted terminal fittings () in the second housing (). An inability to move the slider () provides an indication that at least one terminal fitting () is not inserted properly.

Connector assembly with slider assisted mating and terminal lock

A female housing () has a tubular fit-in part () and a male housing () has a hood () that can enter the tubular fit-in part () to allow both housings () to reach a proper connection. A lever () is mounted rotatably on the female housing () and engages a cam pin () on the female housing () to move the housings together. A locking part () is provided on the lever () and a locking projection () is provided on the hood (). The locking part () locks to the locking projection () through a window () formed on the tubular fit-in part () when the lever () is rotated to a predetermined normal position. Thus, proper connection of the male housing () with the female housing () is ensured by the locking of the lever ().

Lever-type connector

Joint terminals () and a housing () are united by a press-in operation instead of being united by insert molding. Thus, there is no likelihood that an injection pressure will deform the joint terminals (). The joint terminal () has a coupling () bent so that upper and lower supports () are formed at the opposite sides of an intermediate portion (). A high dimensional precision can be obtained even when an automatic mounting machine is used for pressing the joint terminals () into the housing ().

Joint terminal, a joint connector and a production method therefor

A joint terminal () has a coupling () that initially is substantially parallel with a carrier (). The coupling () has an intermediate portion () joined to the carrier () by an extension () and is held substantially coplanar with the carrier (). The coupling () is bent on opposite ends of the intermediate portion () while the intermediate support () and the carrier () are being held to define a first support () that support first tabs () and a second support () that supports second tabs ().

Joint connector, a joint terminal, and a production method for joint terminal

A connector has a housing () with a cavity () and a lock () that projects into the cavity (). A defining wall () defines a deformation space () on a side of the lock () opposite the cavity (). The lock () deflects into the deformation space () as a terminal fitting () is inserted into the cavity (). The lock () then is restored resiliently to hold the terminal fitting () in the cavity (). A support (A,B,C) extends from the defining wall () and towards a space () between the lock () and a sidewall of the cavity () for supporting the terminal fitting () in the cavity ().

A terminal fitting () is made of a metallic plate material stamped out into a specified shape and has a substantially flat main body (), a substantially flat coupling () extending from an outer peripheral edge of the main body (), and a wire crimping portion () further extending from an extending end of the coupling (). The coupling () of the terminal fitting () has a reinforcement formed by placing reinforcing plates () substantially one over the other.
