To elongate an exhaust tail pipe wherein a muffler is covered by a rear cowl. An exhaust structure of a vehicle including a rear cowl covering a vehicle rear portion, a rear bank-muffler including a first and second expansion chamber partitioned by a partition, a first and second connecting pipe connecting the expansion chambers, and a tail pipe configured to discharge exhaust air from the rear bank-muffler. The rear bank-muffler is covered by the rear cowl, wherein outlines of the rear bank-muffler and the rear cowl are each formed such that the width decreases toward the vehicle rear. The tail pipe, the first connecting pipe, and the second connecting pipe are provided so as to penetrate the partition. A position where the tail pipe penetrates the partition and positions where the first connecting pipe and second connecting pipe penetrate the partition are offset from each other in the vertical direction.

Exhaust structure of vehicle

An exhaust system for a motorcycle having a catalyzer casing that is accommodated in an exhaust muffler. The exhaust muffler is provided at opposite sides thereof in the vehicle width direction with lateral walls that are inclined so as to come closer to each other as they extend downward. A bent section is formed in an intermediate portion, within the exhaust muffler, of an exhaust gas conduit passing through a front end wall of the exhaust muffler and changes the flow direction of exhaust gas from the forward and rearward direction of the vehicle to the vehicle width direction. The catalyzer casing has one end connected to a downstream end portion of the exhaust gas conduit and is arranged in an inclined condition to be lowered as it approaches one side of the muffler in the vehicle width direction.

Exhaust system for motorcycle

A motorcycle is provided with vehicle frame, an internal combustion engine operatively attached to the vehicle frame, and an exhaust system for routing exhaust gas from the engine therethrough. The motorcycle also includes a body cover that covers at least a lateral side portion of the engine and constitutes an outer face of the vehicle, and a heat shield having a face closely adjacent and visually continuous to the body cover, the heat shield covering a lateral side portion of the exhaust system. The heat shield and the body cover cooperate to configure the external face of the vehicle, and the heat shield is mounted to the exhaust system. The body cover is formed of a plastic material, and the heat shield is made of metal. The body cover and heat shield cooperate to provide an improved vehicle appearance.

A clutch apparatus includes a clutch outer member for supporting friction discs, which are nonrotatable relative to the clutch outer member, and are axially slidable along a clutch axis; a clutch inner member for supporting clutch discs, which are nonrotatable relative to the clutch inner member, and are axially slidable along the clutch axis, and a pressure plate having a deep recess for accommodating a clutch spring engaged with the clutch inner member. The deep recess includes a bottom portion having a spring seat for receiving the clutch spring, and a partially cylindrical shape wall portion having an axis parallel to the clutch axis. The wall portion is oriented towards the clutch axis. The deep recess has a communicating portion formed therein for establishing the communication between the inner and outer surfaces of the wall portion so as to discharge oil towards the friction and clutch discs during operation.

Clutch apparatus for a power unit and power unit incorporating the same

An exhaust emission control system for an engine that provides both early activation of a catalyst during cold-engine, low-load operation of the engine and protection of the catalyst during hot-engine, high-load operation of the engine. The exhaust emission control system includes a catalyst provided in an intermediate portion of an exhaust pipe; an exhaust valve provided in an upstream-side exhaust passage of the exhaust pipe between the catalyst and the engine; and an auxiliary exhaust passage, which is smaller in passage cross-sectional area than the upstream-side exhaust passage and is connected to the upstream-side exhaust passage so as to bypass the exhaust valve. The auxiliary exhaust passage has an inlet connected in the vicinity of an exhaust port of the engine and an outlet connected to the vicinity of the catalyst.

Exhaust emission control system for engine

An exhaust muffler for improving the timbre of an exhaust sound in a low engine speed region and for increasing an engine output in a high engine speed region. In an exhaust device for an internal combustion engine for discharging an exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine through a multistage expansion type muffler having a plurality of expansion chambers for silencing the sound of the exhaust gas during the passage thereof, the multistage expansion type muffler includes a first tail pipe for communicating between a most downstream one of the expansion chambers and the outside of the muffler and a second tail pipe for communicating between an upstream one of the expansion chambers on the upstream side of the most downstream expansion chamber and the outside of the muffler.
