An electronic unit includes a casing, printed circuit board, connector-receiving part, connecting member, and fixing member. The connector-receiving part is formed integrally with a first casing member of the casing. The connecting member includes a terminal and a body of the connecting member attached to the casing. The terminal includes first and second connecting parts. The center of the terminal is attached to the body of the connecting member. A mating connector is inserted into the connector-receiving part along the longitudinal direction of the first connecting part. The first casing member and the connecting member are provided with respective holes, which communicate to each other. The fixing member includes a boss part. The boss part is press-fitted in the holes along the longitudinal direction of the second connecting part so as to fix the connecting member to the first casing member.

Electronic unit by which connector can be securely coupled with mating connector

Terminal-retainment cancellation structure of connector

A terminal removal jig, for removing a terminal within a connector housing, having an outer case with a guide groove, a positioning member which has a protruding portion to be engaged with a terminal insertion hole at a front end of the connector housing, an elastic body for urging the positioning member and an unlocking plate secured on the outer case and having an unlocking pin to be mated with a locking lance within the connector housing. The unlocking pin is located behind the protruding portion and is kept in contact with the outer wall of the positioning member. The protruding portion is engaged with the terminal insertion hole and the tip of the unlocking pin faces a terminal removal jig insertion hole opposite to the locking lance. A protruding strip is formed on the outer wall and a front guide hole is formed in the unlocking plate. The inner wall of the front guide hole is successive to the stem of the unlocking pin, a protrusion is formed on the positioning member, and a guide hole is formed in the unlocking plate.

Terminal removal jig

An electrical contact includes a tubular portion, and a contact piece portion which is provided within the tubular portion so as to contact a contact portion of a mating connector terminal, inserted into the tubular portion through one open end thereof, to be electrically connected to the contact portion. The contact piece portion is supported by a contact piece portion-interconnecting portion, extending from an edge of the other open end of the tubular portion, in such a manner that the contact piece portion is held out of contact with an inner surface of the tubular portion.

Electrical contact

The receptacle terminal has a first plate formed with more than one contacts which are disposed in an insertion direction of an associated pin terminal. The receptacle terminal has a resilient tongue piece opposed to the first plate. The resilient tongue piece is formed with at least one contact. The contact of the resilient tongue piece is located between the contacts of the first plate in the pin terminal insertion direction.

Receptacle terminal and connection structure thereof with pin terminal

An elastic arm ( ), having a shaking prevention projection ( ), is formed on one connector ( ), and a recess ( ) for fitting engagement with the projection ( ) is formed in the other connector ( ). When the two connectors ( ) are completely fitted together, the projection ( ) is engaged in the recess ( ) in such a manner that front and rear surfaces ( ) of the projection ( ) are held in intimate contact with front and rear surfaces ( ) of the recess ( ), respectively. These surfaces ( ) are slanting. When the projection ( ) is engaged in the recess ( ), elastic deformation of the arm ( ) is canceled. The arm ( ) extends straight along a connector fitting chamber ( ), and the recess ( ) is formed in an outer wall ( ) of the connector ( ). A lock mechanism ( ) for locking the two connectors to each other are provided generally in opposed relation to the arm ( ). Second and third arms ( ) for shaking prevention purposes are provided 90&deg; out of phase with the arm ( ) in opposite directions. Preferably, the second and third arms ( ) are disposed flush with opposite side walls ( ) of the connector ( ), respectively, and each of the second and third arms has a projection ( ) which projects from the corresponding side wall ( ).

Connector-shaking prevention structure

A housing body is provided with a pair of first retainers and a plurality of terminal chambers for accommodating a plurality of connection terminals. A spacer is attached to the housing body for doubly retaining the connection terminals in the housing body. The spacer is provided with a pair of second retainers which is to be engaged with the first retainers when the spacer is attached to the housing body. A pair of finger pads are respectively protruded from outer faces of both side walls of the housing body, on which an user's fingers are abutted to perform connection with respect to a mating connector. The spacer is attached into a mounting hole formed in either a top face or a bottom face of the housing body so as to communicate with the respective terminal chambers and to include inner faces of the both side walls of the housing body. The width of the mounting hole is widened outwardly at portions opposing to the respective finger pads. At least a part of the first retainers are provided in the widened portion of the mounting hole.

Connector

Female terminal

An electrical contact includes an electrical contact portion which has a square tubular shape, and into which a mating contact is insertable. The electrical contact portion includes a bottom wall (,), a pair of opposite side walls (,) extending upright from the bottom wall (,), a top wall (,) extending from one of the opposite side walls (,) and disposed in opposed relation to the bottom wall (,), and a reinforcing wall (,) formed integrally with the other one of the opposite side walls (,) and partially covering the top wall (,). A pair of lower and upper resilient contact pieces (,) are formed integrally with the top wall (,) of the electrical contact portion, and located in the electrical contact portion. A plurality of rows (stages) of wire receiving portions (,) are formed in a connector housing (,), and are arranged in a stepped manner in a direction of a length of the wires, and a plurality of rows (stages) of wire-pressing projections (,) are formed on the spacer (,), and are offset from each other in the direction of the length of the wires, and each row of wires are pressed against a corresponding wall portion (,), extending from the corresponding row of wire receiving portions, by the corresponding row of projections, respectively. The first row of wire receiving portions (,) are provided at an inlet side of a spacer receiving portion (,), and the second row of wire receiving portions (,) are provided at an inner side of the spacer receiving portion, and are longer than the first row of wire receiving portions, and the projections (,) are opposed to a step wall portion (,) formed between the first and second rows of wire receiving portions, and the projections (,) are opposed to the wall portion (,). Formed on a base wall portion (,) of the spacer (,), and terminal receiving portions (,) are formed in the spacer, and are offset from the projections (,) in the direction of the length of the wires. The projections (,) are formed on the outer wall portion (,) of the terminal receiving portions. Terminal-retaining projected portions (,) are formed on the base wall portion (,) and the outer wall portion (,). Each of the projections (,) has slanting surfaces (,) or an arcuate surface for preventing damage to the wire. A terminal support portion (,) is provided within the spacer receiving portion in the connector housing.

Wire shaking prevention structure of connector

A card edge connector is provided. This card edge connector comprises: a first connector housing and a second connector housing to be inserted into a connector receiving chamber provided with a wiring substrate having terminal connecting portions; a plurality of terminals each having an elastic contact segment provided with a contact portion; assisting members (spring members) for helping the elastic contact segments to resist separation of the first connector housing and the second connector housing in the connector receiving chamber; and a holding mechanism provided to the first connector housing and the second connector housing for holding the assisting members by engaging them with the rotary support axes and the bearings.

Card edge connector

A connector has a connector housing, a plurality of terminals, an assisting means, and a support means. The connector housing can be received in a connector receiving recess having a first wall fitted with a plurality of terminal connecting short strips. The connector housing has a plurality of terminal accommodating chambers with at least an opening communicating with the first wall side of the connector receiving recess. Furthermore, each terminal has a wire connection portion and an elastic contact piece extending from the wire connection portion. The elastic contact piece is defined by folding back a forward part of the terminal toward the wire connection portion. The folded-back portion has a contact portion formed in the middle thereof to contact the terminal connecting short strip through the opening. A plurality of terminals are inserted into the terminal accommodating chambers of the connector housing. Meanwhile, the assisting means can resiliently abut against a second wall opposing to the first wall in respect of the connector receiving recess, which urges additionally the elastic contact piece against the terminal connecting short strip. The support means engages with the assisting means to hold it.

Electrical connector

An electrical contact portion (,) of an electrical contact includes a bottom wall (,), a pair of opposite side walls (,) extending upright from the bottom wall (,), a top wall (,) extending from one of the side walls (,) and disposed in opposed relation to the bottom wall (,), and a reinforcing wall (,) formed integrally with the other one of the side walls (,) and partially covering the top wall (,). A vibration-absorbing plate (,) of a curved shape, which is formed at that end of the top wall (,) remote from a mating contact inserting-side, and has a resilient force set to a value smaller than a force of insertion of the mating contact into the interior of the electrical contact portion (,), so that the vibration-absorbing plate (,) can follow the mating contact during the insertion of the mating contact. A bifurcated-resilient contact piece (,) extends from the vibration-absorbing plate (,) into the interior of the electrical contact portion (,), and can be electrically connected to the mating contact. A stopper wall (,) which extends downwardly from that end of the reinforcing wall (,), remote from the mating contact inserting-side, toward the bottom wall (,) so as to prevent excessive displacement of the vibration-absorbing plate (,).

Elastic retaining lances (,), provided in a connector housing (,), serve also as partition walls of terminal receiving chambers (,), and project into the terminal receiving chambers (,). Slanting partition walls (,) are disposed rearwardly of the retaining lances (,) in continuous relation thereto, and the slanting partition walls (,) are continuous with horizontal rear partition walls (,). Front partition walls (,) are disposed forwardly of the retaining lances (,), and are disposed respectively at levels equal respectively to levels of the rear partition walls (,), and each of the front partition walls (,) has a tapering guide surface (,) for urging a distal end of the terminal in a direction of flexion of the retaining lance (,). The distance (L,) between the front partition walls (,) is at least the sum of a height of the terminal and a margin (L,) for the flexion of the retaining lance (,). The front partition walls (,) are formed on a front holder (,). The slanting partition walls (,) are formed on a terminal-retaining spacer (,), and serve also as terminal-retaining walls. The terminal includes a first engagement step portion for engagement with the retaining lance (,), and a second engagement step portion for engagement with the slanting partition wall (,), and the second engagement step portion is lower in height than the first engagement step portion.
