An electric power steering apparatus has a rotation detection device that includes a sensor section that detects a rotation of a motor and outputs a mechanical angle and a count value, and a signal obtainer that obtains the mechanical angle and the count value from the sensor section. The rotation detection device also includes an absolute angle calculator that calculates an absolute angle based on the mechanical angle and the count value and a storage area for storing a reference value that is used for correcting calculation errors in the absolute angle.

A current sensor state determination device determines that an abnormality is caused in a current sensor when a sum of phase currents based on current detection values from each of the current sensors in three phases is greater than a first determination value, and determines that no abnormality is caused in the current sensor when the sum of phase currents is equal to or less than the first determination value. The state determination device determines that the current sensor is normal when it is determined that (i) no abnormality is caused in a preset electric angle range equal to or less than one electric-angle cycle of the rotating electric machine and (ii) a value of an electric current flowing in the rotating electric machine in a rotating coordinates system calculated based on the current detection value is equal to or greater than a second determination value.

A rotary electric machine control device includes multiple drive circuits provided for respective winding sets in a rotary electric machine, and multiple control units. When combinations of the winding sets and configurations provided correspondingly to the respective winding sets are defined as systems, the control units are provided for the respective systems. Each of the control units controls energization of the winding set provided correspondingly, and monitors an abnormality of a monitoring target. Each of the control units performs an abnormality detection time backup control during a period from detection of the abnormality of the monitoring target to confirmation of the abnormality, and performs an abnormality confirmation time backup control when the abnormality is confirmed.

Rotary electric machine control device and electric power steering device using same

A steering angle detection device includes plural control units and plural steering angle sensors. Each control unit is configured to transmit steering angle information related to a steering angle of a vehicle to an external device and transmit and receive information mutually therebetween. Each steering angle sensor is provided in correspondence to each control unit and configured to output a sensor signal corresponding to a detection value of a change in the steering angle to the corresponding control unit. One of the control units transmits, as a transmission control unit, the steering angle information to the external device at one transmission timing.

A signal control device includes a charge/discharge circuit, a sampling capacitor, and an AC conversion circuit. The charge/discharge circuit is capable of charging or discharging the sampling capacitor. The AC conversion circuit performs an AD conversion by converting an analog voltage value charged in the sampling capacitor into an AD conversion value that is a digital value. After a charge operation or a discharge operation to the sampling capacitor with the charge/discharge circuit, the AD conversion circuit performs the AD conversion, and a malfunction of the charge/discharge circuit is determined based on a diagnosis result of the AD conversion value.

An ECU, which is a signal control apparatus, has a plurality of control units, which control one same motor. Steering angle calculation units acquire sensor signals from the angle sensors provided corresponding to the steering angle calculation units, respectively, and calculate the steering angles in correspondence to the sensor signals. The angle FB units perform the angle FB control based on the angle differences, which are between the target angle and the steering angle and between the target angle and the steering angle, respectively. In the angular FB unit of at least one of the control units, the angular feedback control is performed using the angle difference, which is subjected to the correction processing to reduce the error between the detection angle of the own system and the detection angle of the other system calculated by the steering angle calculation unit of the other control unit.

An ECU includes a plurality of motor driving circuits for driving at least one motor, a plurality of computers and a plurality of clock circuits. A first computer, which is at a synchronization signal transmission-side, transmits a synchronization signal to a second computer, which is at a synchronization signal reception-side. The first computer and the second computer execute a plurality of specific periodic processes, which are processes executed at cycle periods (for example, 200 &#x3bc;s, 400 &#x3bc;s) of different natural number multiples of a cycle period (for example, 200 &#x3bc;s) of the synchronization signal and need be synchronized. Each timing of the plurality of specific periodic processes is determined based on one synchronization signal.

Motor control apparatus and motor driving system

A motor control device is provided with a plurality of power converters and a plurality of microcomputers, and controls driving of a motor that has a plurality of sets of windings. The microcomputers perform initial check of components in respective circuits after activation. The microcomputers prohibit driving of the motor by a circuit determined to be abnormal during the initial inspection. When two or more circuits are determined to be normal in the initial check, the microcomputers start driving of the motor by synchronizing the timing between the two or more circuits determined to be normal. When only one circuit is determined to be normal in the initial check, the microcomputers start driving of the motor by the one circuit determined to be normal.

Motor control device, motor drive system and motor control method

A steering angle detection device is provided with a plurality of rotation angle sensors and a plurality of control units. The rotation angle sensors are capable of at least continuously calculating a rotation speed while an ignition switch of a vehicle is turned off, and are provided so as to correspond to steering angle calculation units which calculate steering angle based on the rotation speed and a rotation angle acquired from the rotation angle sensors and midpoint information related to the neutral position of a steering member. Power supplies are provided on a per-system basis. The rotation angle sensors or the control units are capable of holding the midpoint information while the ignition switch is turned off. If a power supply abnormality resulting in power supply failure occurs in some of the systems, the control unit of the abnormal system acquires the midpoint information and the rotation speed from the control unit of a normal system when the ignition switch is turned on.

Steering angle detection device

An electric power steering apparatus has a rotation detection device for calculating an absolute angle that includes a sensor section that detects a rotation of a motor and outputs a mechanical angle and a count value. The rotation detection device also includes a signal acquisition unit that obtains the mechanical angle and the count value from the sensor section, and an absolute angle calculator that calculates an absolute angle based on the mechanical angle and the count value. Where one rotation of the motor is divided into indefinite regions and definite regions, the absolute angle calculator uses the count value from the definite regions to calculate the absolute angle.

An electric power steering apparatus has a rotation detection device that can recover from abnormalities in calculating an absolute angle. The rotation detection device includes a signal acquirer that acquires a mechanical angle and a count value from a sensor, and an absolute angle calculator that calculates an absolute angle based on the mechanical angle and the count value. The rotation detection device further includes an abnormality determiner that determines abnormalities in the calculation of the absolute angle. The absolute angle calculator stores an absolute angle hold value prior to the detection of the abnormality the absolute angle. When the abnormality of the absolute angle is resolved, the absolute angle calculator calculates a recovery-time absolute angle, and returns to a normal-time absolute angle calculation.

An ECU includes plural sensor units and plural control units. The sensor units include magnetic field detection elements for detecting a rotation of a motor, and output mechanical angles related to the rotation angle in one rotation and count values related to the number of rotations of the motor, respectively. One rotation of the motor is divided into indefinite regions, in which detection deviation of the count values may occur, and definite regions, in which no detection deviation occurs. The definite region of the count value is set to deviate from the definite region of the other count value. Absolute angle calculation units calculate the absolute angles using the count values of the definite regions.

A synchronization signal generating portion of a transmitter microcomputer generates a synchronization signal that is synchronized with a drive timing of the own microcomputer and also causes to synchronize the drive timing of microcomputers, and transmits to a receiver microcomputer. A timing corrector of the receiver microcomputer is capable of correcting the drive timing of the own microcomputer so as to synchronize with the received synchronization signal, and includes a timing determiner which determines whether the received synchronization signal is normal or abnormal. The receiver microcomputer permits the timing correction if the synchronization signal is determined to be normal in the timing determination, and prohibits timing correction and drives the motor asynchronously with the transmitter microcomputer if the synchronization signal is determined to be abnormal.
