A more practical method for evaluating an inhibitory circuit applicable to a living body, and the use thereof. Herein the action of an inhibitory circuit on an excitatory circuit is evaluated on the basis of attenuation of the brain activity produced by activation of an excitatory circuit by the input of an inhibitory circuit by performing a step for inputting an inhibitory circuit by applying a second trigger in advance of a first trigger to an excitatory circuit activated by a first trigger which is a stimulus or challenge.

Evaluation of inhibitory circuit and use thereof

The invention provides an evaluation method capable of objectively evaluating average visual perception for a comparatively long period of time when a subject looks through an eyeglass lens to be evaluated, time-dependent change in visual perception, and visual perception when looking with both eyes, and the invention provides a design method, and the invention provides a calculation method for calculating characteristics of visual perception of the subject when viewing an object through a lens. [Solution] A subject is allowed to wear a lens to be evaluated, the subject is allowed to induce brain activity by allowing the subject to view a changing visual stimulus object that induces periodic brain activity through the lens to be evaluated, a change in faint electric current caused by the brain activity is time-dependently recorded as a change in a magnetic field (magnetic flux density) by use of a magnetoencephalograph, one or more among an amplitude, a power value, and a phase in a frequency that is an inverse number of a period of the periodic brain activity is or are calculated through fast Fourier analysis of the waveform, and the lens to be evaluated and the characteristic of visual perception of the subject are evaluated based on a magnitude of an amplitude or of a power value obtained above or based on a slowness/fastness of a phase obtained above.

Glasses-lens assessment method, glasses-lens design method using assessment method, and calculation method for visual-performance characteristics of test subject when viewing object through lens

[Problem] To provide an evaluation method for evaluating spectacle lenses that is capable of objectively evaluating spectacle lenses suitable for a user by measuring brain activity, and a design method for designing spectacle lenses using the evaluation method. [Solution] A subject is allowed to wear to-be-evaluated lenses, and the subject is allowed to visually observe a visual stimulus object used to evoke an activity of a specific part of the visual cortex of the brain through the to-be-evaluated lenses, and an evoked activity of the specific part of the brain's visual cortex when the visual stimulus object is visually observed by the to-be-evaluated lenses is measured by an electroencephalograph or by a magnetoencephalograph, and the spectacle lenses are evaluated based on time (latency) from when a visual stimulus is received till when a change is caused thereby or based on the magnitude (amplitude) of activity.

Method for assessing spectacle lens by evoked activity in visual cortex of brain or the like, and method for designing spectacle lens using said method for assessment

A plurality of to-be-evaluated lenses that differ in lens surface design from one another is prepared in an evaluation-value calculating step. Thereafter, a subject's predetermined biological information, e.g., brain waves, is measured for each of the to-be-evaluated lenses by allowing the subject to wear each of the lenses, and an evaluation value for each of the lenses is calculated relative to a predetermined index in the brain waves, for example, relative to a 'state of being under stress.' Thereafter, a correlation between the calculated evaluation value and a lens surface shape is calculated as an index characteristic in a lens-surface-shape determining step. Thereafter, a lens surface shape of a suitable spectacle lens in the index is determined based on the index characteristic, and the lens surface shape is fed back as a shape of a to-be-evaluated lens of the evaluation-value calculating step.
