An image forming apparatus is provided that prevents paper from being scratched by a peeling claw and reducing the curl amount of the paper to be re-fed to a lower level. The rotational speed of a fixing and discharging roller is adequately kept higher than the rotational speed of a heating roller so as not to allow image stain to be produced in a paper due to scratching by a peeling claw in a fixing unit. Simultaneously, the rotational speed of reverse feeding rollers is set slightly higher than the rotational speed of the heating roller at the time when an automatic duplex unit performs paper re-feeding.
