An optical connector () according to the present disclosure is an optical connector () attached to an optical transmission line (), which includes a base body () and an optical waveguide () stacked on the base body (). The optical connector () includes a first base () placed on the optical transmission line (), a contact portion () included in the first base () and being in contact with a placement surface of the optical transmission line (), and a bonding portion () formed in a region of the first base () in which the contact portion () is not formed and being spaced apart from a surface of the optical transmission line (). A space (S) is formed between the bonding portion () and the surface of the optical transmission line (), and an agent (A) attaching the optical connector () to the optical transmission line () is provided in the space (S).

Optical connector and optical connector module

An optical connector module () according to the present disclosure includes an optical waveguide board () and an optical connector () attached to the optical waveguide board (). The optical connector () includes a positioning target portion () that engages with the optical waveguide board (), and the optical connector () is positioned relative to the optical waveguide board () in a state in which the positioning target portion () is engaged with the optical waveguide board (). The optical waveguide board () includes an optical waveguide () including a first cladding () and a core () stacked on the first cladding (), the first cladding being stacked on a substrate () in a stacking direction perpendicular to the substrate (), and a positioning core () that is stacked on the first cladding () by using a material the same as a material of the core () and that engages with the positioning target portion (). The positioning core () protrudes further than the core () toward a side opposite to the substrate () in the stacking direction.

Optical connector module and method of manufacturing optical waveguide board

An optical element includes a first condensing lens and a plurality of second condensing lenses. The optical element is disposed so as to face an end of an optical fiber. The optical fiber includes a core, a first cladding located around the core, and a second cladding located around the first cladding. The first condensing lens is disposed at a position corresponding to the core. The second condensing lenses are disposed around the first condensing lens at positions corresponding to the first cladding.

Optical connector ferrule

An optical connector module can contribute to a reduction in size while reducing coupling loss. An optical connector module () according to the present disclosure includes an optical transmission line () including cores () and a cladding (), an optical connector () including a first side surface (A) facing an end face of the cores () and configured to optically couple to the optical transmission line (), and a refractive index matching material () configured to adjust the refractive index of a space between the cores () and the first side surface (A). The refractive index matching material () is disposed between the first side surface (A) and the end face. A curved first lens portion () is provided on the first side surface (A) at a position opposite the cores ().

Optical connector module

Provided is an optical path converting component capable of being positioned and fixed with less work steps and with a high degree of accuracy. The disclosed optical path converting component () configured to optically couple an optical input/output interface () disposed on a board and an optical transmission path () includes a base body () disposed on an optical path connecting the optical input/output interface () and the optical transmission path () and a mounting portion () configured to be mounted on a board (CB) by soldering.

An optical connector, optical connector system, and active optical cable provided with these suffer little effect from scratches on the end face of an optical waveguide or from foreign material (dust) adhering to the end face, are manufacturable easily at low-cost, and moreover can send/receive optical signals efficiently between the end faces of the optical waveguide and an optical fiber. An optical connector () includes a connector body () provided between and connecting a substrate () faced by an optical input/output end face () of an optical waveguide () and a ferrule () faced by an optical input/output end face () of an optical fiber (), and a lens portion () provided in the connector body () between the end face () of the optical waveguide () and the end face () of the optical fiber () and configured to send/receive an optical signal between the end faces ().
