An electrolytic capacitor includes a multilayered-capacitor-elements unit, a pair of positive electrode terminals, a negative electrode terminal, and an outer-package resin. The multilayered-capacitor-elements unit includes multiple capacitor elements of which positive electrodes are oriented oppositely to each other. The positive electrodes are connected to the positive electrode terminals, respectively, and negative electrodes of the capacitor elements are connected to the negative electrode terminal. Each of the positive electrode terminals includes a bottom section and a double-back section on which the positive electrodes of the capacitor element is disposed. The double-back section is formed by doubling over an end section extending toward the negative electrode.

A coin-type electrochemical element enables the external lead terminal portions to be accurately and reliably attached to a first lid portion and to a second lid portion of the coin-type electrochemical element, and a method of its production. A coin-type electric double layer capacitor includes a first lid portion and a second lid portion. External lead terminal portions, each having a nearly triangular shape, are separately connected to the outer surfaces of the lid portions. Upon providing the external lead terminal portions having the triangular shape, a welded portion is allowed to have an increased area enabling the coin-type electrochemical element of even a small size to be accurately and reliably welded and making it possible to provide the coin-type electrochemical element having excellent reliability.

Method of producing a coin-type electrochemical element

A solid electrolytic capacitor includes a negative terminal, first to fourth capacitor elements coupled to the negative terminal, first and second positive terminals connected to the first to fourth capacitor elements, and a package resin covering the first to fourth capacitor elements. Each of the first to fourth capacitor elements has a first end and a second end opposite to the first end, and each of the first to fourth capacitor elements includes a negative electrode provided at the first end and a positive electrode provided at the second end. The first to fourth capacitor elements are stacked in this order. The positive electrodes of the first and fourth capacitor elements extend in a first direction from the respective negative electrodes of the first and fourth capacitor elements. The positive electrodes of the second and third capacitor elements extend in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, from the respective negative electrodes of the second and third capacitor elements. This solid electrolytic capacitor has a small leakage current.

A disclosure is made on a solid electrolytic capacitor, which facilitates an assembly work with simple construction to lead to a reduction of cost, realizes excellent equivalent series resistance characteristics and makes a thin configuration possible, and a manufacturing method thereof. With the solid electrolytic capacitor of the present invention, a cathode lead frame has a connecting member to connect integrally with a cathode member of a capacitor element stack body on the side surface of a capacitor element extending in the thickness direction thereof. Capacitor elements, each provided with a through hole on an anode member, are stacked on top of each other in layers and connections between capacitor elements are achieved by disposing an anode lead frame between layers. Accordingly, when a plurality of anode members are joined to the anode lead frame via a through hole provided on respective anode members of capacitor elements, stabilized welding work is allowed to be performed without any of molten aluminum foil to be released outside.

A hoop metal lead frame ( ) having, solid electrolytic capacitor elements ( ) on its terminal sections ( ) is provided with a crosspiece ( ) bridging both sides in terms of the width direction disposed along the length direction in a region between the capacitor elements ( ), one crosspiece for two capacitor elements ( ). The metal lead frame ( ) is placed on a molding die so that the region without having the crosspiece is locating at the sub runner ( ), which has branched out from the main runner ( ). The capacitor elements ( ) are encapsulated with a molding resin injected through the sub runner ( ). Since the molding resin is not covering the crosspiece ( ), the main runner portion ( ) and the sub runner portion ( ) can be severed from the metal lead frame ( ) without effecting unwanted stress on the solid electrolytic capacitors ( ). The solid electrolytic capacitors ( ) thus manufactured have a superior property in the tight hermetic sealing.
