An information collecting device controls a plant based on process data acquired from controllers and field devices connected to the controllers. The information collecting device includes an arithmetic controller and an update controller. The arithmetic controller collects first information which is engineering information of the plant and second information which is device information from a controller, a field device or a combination of both selected from the controllers and the field devices. The update controller generates third information based on a definition in which the first information and the second information are set in advance, and updates the third information in a storage based on a preset update cycle.

An information collecting system collects information associated with (i) a controller connected to a control network and (ii) a host device connected to an information network located at a level higher than the control network, and includes a management device and an information collecting mediation device. The management device is connected to the information network, collects information associated with the host device, transmits an acquisition request for information associated with the controller to the information network, and manages the collected information associated with the host device and information associated with the controller. The information collecting mediation device is connected to the control network and the information network, collects information associated with the controller according to capability information indicating a capability of at least one of the control network and the controller based on the acquisition request, and sends said collected information to the management device.

A process control system that controls an industrial process implemented in a plant, may include: a network provided in the plant; a first field device that is connected to the network, the first field device being configured to output one of measurement data, which is obtained by measuring a state quantity in the industrial process, and first simulation data, which simulates the state quantity; a controller that is connected to the network, the controller being configured to perform control in response to one of the measurement data and the first simulation data output from the first field device; and a simulator configured to generate the first simulation data to be output from the first field device.
