The invention is a tape cartridge including a single tape reel around which a length of magnetic tape is wound and which is turnably held within a housing. The beginning of the tape is fixed to a leader so that it can be drawn out through an opening formed in the housing by a tape drawing-out member of a recorder which has an end capable of engaging the tape end. The leader includes a metallic center pin member on which the beginning of the tape is wound and a pair of engaging members of synthetic resin joined to upper and lower ends of said pin member so as to engage the tape drawing-out member of the recorder. The engaging members are molded together integrally with the upper and lower ends of the pin member.

Tape cartridge

A tape cartridge having an identification hole for the prevention of accidental removal of recorded information or for no erasing formed in a housing of the cartridge and an additional identification hole formed in the vicinity of the first hole for a different purpose, both of the holes being adapted to engage with a no-erasing member which opens or closes the same. The no-erasing member when incorporated in the cartridge is able to open or close the no-erasing identification hole depending on the position of the member itself while normally closing the different-purpose identification hole and, when not incorporated in the cartridge, it allows the different-purpose identification hole to remain open whereby the tape cartridge is identified to be a different one. The two identification holes may be united into one. The different-purpose identification hole may be a hole intended for the identification of a cleaning cartridge.

In a housing for tape cartridge which holds therein a tape reel on which a medium in the form of a tape is wound, an outer surface portion of a side wall, out of surrounding walls, of the housing facing the direction of cartridge insertion into a recording-reproducing apparatus has a draft of zero degree where it comes in contact with positioning means of the apparatus. In a mold for forming the housing, a mold portion that forms an outer surface portion of a side wall, out of surrounding walls, of the housing facing the direction of cartridge insertion into a recording-reproducing apparatus, is constituted by a slide having a plane perpendicular to the direction of insertion.

A recording medium cartridge capable of permitting energy to be effectively transmitted from a welding horn to a casing to highly improve welding between an upper casing member and a lower casing member which is carried out in order to integrally form the casing. The casing members are made of crystalline resin to which a filler such as glass fiber or the like is added.

A tape cartridge includes a single tape reel around which a length of magnetic tape is wound and which is turnably held within a housing. The beginning of the tape is drawn out through an opening formed in the housing by a tape drawing-out member of a recorder. The drawing-out member has an engaging member at the outer end. The housing has a cell in which a hook member to catch an engaging end of a leader tape, when the leader tape holding the beginning of the magnetic tape is used, is detachably fitted and a cell in which a leader member to hold the beginning of the magnetic tape, when the leader member is used, is contained. The housing is made using a mold which forms a cell having a leader member holding the beginning of the magnetic tape or which forms the cell without the leader member.

A tape cartridge including a single tape reel around which a length of magnetic tape is wound and which is turnably held within a housing, the beginning of the tape being fixed to a leader so that it can be drawn out through an opening formed in the housing by a tape drawing-out member of a recorder which has a pin-like or hooked end capable of engaging the tape end, said leader comprising a center part (pin-like member) on which the beginning of the tape is wound and a pair of engaging members joined to the upper and lower ends of the member so as to engage the tape drawing-out member of the recorder, said engaging members having a plurality of recesses each for engaging the drawing-out member. Thus the engaging members can consist of members identical in structure. In another embodiment the center member has position-confining portions formed close to its both ends to confine the positions of the engaging members.

In a tape cassette, a reel brake member has an opening hole portion for insertion of a brake release member on a device side, and a guide recessed portion for guiding the brake release member is formed in a central portion of an abutment side wall portion of the brake release member in the opening hole portion. This guide recessed portion is formed in the abutment side wall portion of the brake release member in a vertical direction in a central portion of the opening hole portion, and an internal surface of the guide recessed portion is formed into a U-shaped groove having a curved surface. Arms are provided on sides of a main body of a reel brake member via hinge portions, and a brake pawl is provided at a distal end of the respective brake pawls. An opening hole is formed for insertion of a brake release operation member provided on a device side. In addition, upper surface portion and lower surface portion are provided which are adapted to abut with and slide over internal surfaces of upper and lower cases. Recessed portions are provided on the upper surface portion on both sides of a front side at positions corresponding to outer circumferential edges of the tape reels, and a butt recessed portion is provided on a front side of the lower surface portion so as to correspond to holding ribs provided along tape reel receiving areas on a front side of a reel brake sliding area.

A disk cartridge has a casing composed of upper and lower casings which are adapted to rotatably receive therein a disk-like medium a shutter attached to the casing so as to open and shut openings for driving shaft insertion holes and magnetic head insertion holes formed in the upper and lower casings a disk-like medium taking-out port formed in the casing and a cover member for opening and closing the disk-like medium taking-out port wherein the cover member is disposed in the casing at a position opposing the shutter a disk-like medium placing portion is provided by forming tongue-like projections in the cover member to support the disk-like member from its lower surface side; the cover member is so arranged as to slide between the upper and lower casings whereby the disk-like member can be taken out by simply drawing the cover member from the disk-like medium taking-out port or the disk-like medium can be placed by simply inserting it, and operability in exchanging the disk-like medium can be done extremely well. The lower casing is so constructed that a recessed face portion for receiving the tongue-like projections formed in the cover member is formed in an inner face which opposes the disk-like medium whereby the strength of the casing can be well maintained; easy taking-out and insertion of the disk-like medium are permissible, and good operability of exchanging the disk-like medium is obtainable.

Disk cartridge

An improvement of a tape cartridge is characterized in that connecting plate parts having recesses, one for each, in the rear inner portions thereof facing the exposed tape portion. The recesses formed in the rear inner portions of the connecting plate parts are preferably bevels tapering rearwardly and outwardly, but they may take the form of steps instead.

A tape cartridge comprising a housing, a single tape reel around which a length of tape is wound and which is turnably held within the housing, a leader to which the beginning of the tape is secured, and a tape draw-out member by which the tape is pulled out through an opening formed in the housing into a recorder, characterized in that the leader is composed of a pin member, an elastomer clamp which is fitted around the pin member, a metal clamp fitted around the elastomer clamp, and a highly slippery member of synthetic resin placed between the elastomer clamp and metal clamp.

A disc cartridge capable of enhancing operability of both a cover and an erasure preventing plug while ensuring smooth removal of a disc shaped medium therefrom. An upper casing member and a lower casing member are formed with cutouts, respectively, and the cover is provided with projections fitted in the cutouts of the upper casing member and lower casing member, respectively. The cutouts of the upper casing member and lower casing member and the projections of the cover cooperate with each other to provide an operation hole for the erasure preventing plug and a detection hole therefor, respectively.

Disc cartridge

A tape cassette capable of ensuring the opening and closing of a cover member, satisfying the specification requirement of a height of a rear cover and preventing the rear cover from interfering with a tape. The tape cassette includes a cover member having a front cover for covering the front surface of the tape before the front surface of a casing when the cassette is not used, an upper cover for covering from above the tape stretched outside the casing, and a rear cover for covering the rear surface of the tape. The front cover rotates when using the cassette, and the upper cover and the rear cover move interlockingly with each other to open the front surface of the casing. A cam portion for guiding the rear cover has a first inclined portion, a second inclined portion more inclined than the first inclined portion, and a perpendicular portion more inclined than the second inclined portion.

Tape cassette with improved cover operation

A disc cartridge of a three-piece structure capable of being kept from being caught in an information recording/reproducing apparatus during loading/unloading thereof with respect to the apparatus. The disc cartridge includes an upper plate, a lower plate, and a center frame arranged between the upper plate and the lower plate, which are joined to each other to form a casing in which a disc-like medium is received. The upper plate defines the whole upper surface region of the disc cartridge, whereas the lower plate defines the whole lower surface region of the disc cartridge. The disc cartridge also includes an engaged structure in which an engagement structure of the information recording/reproducing apparatus is engagedly fitted. The engaged structure is constituted by only the lower plate.
