When a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin such as an olefin resin and a water-insoluble or non-water-swelling polymer containing a carboxylic acid salt group are melt-kneaded in the presence of water, phase inversion of forming a dispersion comprising water as the dispersion medium phase and resin particles as the dispersed phase is caused even if the amount of water is very small. If an anionic surfactant, optionally together with a solvent or oil, is made present in the composition to be melt-kneaded, the size of dispersed particles can be greatly reduced in the formed aqueous dispersion even if a resin having a very high molecular weight or a high melt viscosity is used.

Aqueous dispersion and process for preparation thereof

A non-water swelling or a water-insoluble thermoplastic resin, water and an assistant for assisting dispersion of water into the thermoplastic resin are melt-kneaded and the kneaded composition is extruded from an orifice under such conditions that flashing of water is prevented. As the assistant, a water-soluble resin or a water-insoluble resin having a carboxylic acid salt group is used optionally in combination with a surface active agent. The spun product is a fiber bundle in which single filaments having a diameter smaller than 100 .mu.m are gathered in parallel to one another, and this fiber bundle is easily opened.

Process for preparation of a synthetic fiber bundle

A silicone-coated article having releasability imparted thereto by the coating of a silicone, wherein that surface of said article on which to coat the silicone is composed of a resin consisting of a polar group-containing olefinic resin comprising (a) 55 to 99% by weight of a unit derived from an olefin and (b) 1 to 45% by weight of a unit derived from a radical-polymerizable monomer containing a polar group selected from the class consisting of ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a metal capable of forming a salt with the carboxyl group, or a monovalent hydrocarbon group, and R.sub.2 represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group; and a method for the production thereof.

Silicone-coated article and process for production thereof

A glass fiber-reinforced polyester resin composition consisting of: (A) about 55 to about 95% by weight, based on the total weight of (A) and (B), of poly(tetramethylene terephthalate) resin and a glycol component unit, (B) about 45 to about 5% by weight, based on the total weight of (A) and (B), of a copolyester resin composed of a dicarboxylic acid component unit and a unit of a mixed glycol consisting of a specific ether glycol, and a monoalkylene glycol, the amount X in mole % of the ether glycol being expressed by the formula 12/n.ltoreq.X.ltoreq.150/n wherein n is an integer of 2 to 6, and the amount of the monoalkylene glycol being (100 - X) mole %, (C) about 10 to about 50 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B), of glass fibers, and (D) up to about 50 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B), of an additive.
