A print device is provided with a background head that discharges a background ink onto a recording medium, a color head that discharges a color ink onto the recording medium, and a CPU that controls the background head and the color head. The CPU of the print device divides the background ink into a plurality of layers including a first background layer and a second background layer, and discharges the background ink from the background head. A first discharge region of the first background layer is further to an inner side than a second discharge region of the second background layer.

A printer has a carriage being movable between a first end and a second end of a reciprocating path; and a driving force transmitting path selecting mechanism provided at the second end of the reciprocating path. The selecting mechanism has: a common driving force outputting member; a plurality of force receiving members; a selecting member; and a position retainer for keeping the position of the selecting member. The selecting member connects the force outputting member to one of the plurality of force receiving members, and moves in association with the carriage when the carriage moves in a vicinity of the second end in a first direction extending from the first end to the second end. The position retainer keeps the position of the selecting member when the carriage moves in a second direction extending from the second end to the first end. The force receiving member connected to the force outputting member via the selecting member is selected in accordance with a movement of the carriage along the reciprocating path.

The invention is directed to a paper feed cassette device to be removably installed to image recording device. The paper feed cassette device includes a paper feed cassette portion and a paper discharge tray portion that receives the recording media. The paper feed cassette portion has a first paper feed cassette portion and a second paper feed cassette portion that selectively contracts and extends by sliding along a particular direction. The paper discharge tray portion has a first paper discharge tray portion disposed above the first paper feed cassette portion and a second paper discharge tray portion that selectively contracts and expands by sliding along the particular direction. The second paper discharge tray portion selectively engages the second paper feed cassette portion, and the second paper feed cassette portion and the second paper discharge tray portion integrally slide with respect to the first paper discharge tray portion.

An image recording apparatus includes a particular tray, a sheet feeder configured to feed a sheet from the particular tray to a first conveying path in a feed direction, a recording unit positioned along the first conveying path, and a driving roller positioned along a second conveying path and configured to convey the sheet, after the sheet passes the recording unit, along the second conveying path and back to the first conveying path. The particular tray includes a side guide configured to position the sheets in a widthwise direction perpendicular to the feeding direction. The side guide includes a guide member that defines at least a portion of the second conveying path and is configured to guide the sheet along the second conveying path, and a driven roller rotatably supported on the guide member and configured to pinch the sheet against the driving roller as the sheet is conveyed along the second conveying path.

Image recording apparatus

An image recording apparatus according to one aspect comprises: a first tray disposed within an opening of a main body to allow a recording medium to be placed thereon; a second tray disposed above the first tray, the second tray having a second end portion located on a side of the opening; a conveying unit; and a recording unit. The second tray is movable between a first posture and a second posture. When the second tray is in the first posture, a top surface of the second tray in the vicinity of the second end portion is positioned at a predetermined height relative to the first tray. When the second tray moves from the first posture to the second posture, the top surface in the vicinity of the second end portion is moved toward the first tray.

An image recording device includes a recording head comprising a plurality of nozzles configured to dispense ink onto a recording medium when the recording medium is conveyed in a sub-scanning direction, and a carriage configured to reciprocate in a main scanning direction perpendicular to the sub-scanning direction, in which the recording head is positioned on the carriage and moves with the carriage. The image recording device also includes a cleaning unit positioned within the carriage. The cleaning unit is positioned at a more upstream side in the sub-scanning direction than the plurality of nozzles are positioned in the sub-scanning direction, and the cleaning unit includes a cleaning member. Moreover, the cleaning member is configured to move between a first position in which the cleaning member is in contact with a surface of the recording medium, and a second position in which the cleaning member is separated from the surface of the recording medium.

Image recording devices

A printer includes a carriage movable between first and second ends of a reciprocating path; and a driving force-transmitting, path-selecting mechanism provided at the second end. The force-transmitting, path-selecting mechanism includes a driving force outputting member; force receiving members; a selecting member; and a position retainer. The selecting member connects the driving force outputting member to one of the force receiving members, and moves with the carriage when the carriage moves in a vicinity of the second end in a first direction from the first end to the second end. The position retainer keeps the position of the selecting member when the carriage moves in a second direction from the second end to the first end. The force receiving member connected to the driving force outputting member is selected in accordance with a movement of the carriage along the reciprocating path.

A supply roller for sending a piece of sheet from pieces of sheets stacked within a cassette towards a sheet guide and a pair of feed-in rollers for sending the piece of sheet supplied from the sheet guide towards a printing region are provided within a printer. The pair of feed-in rollers has a feed-in drive roller driven by a motor and a feed-in driven roller driven by the feed-in drive roller. A sending speed of the pair of feed-in rollers is faster than a sending speed of the supply roller, and a sending force of the pair of feed-in rollers is stronger than a sending force of the supply roller. A controller of the printer controls the rotation of the supply roller and the pair of feed-in rollers according to a procedure that does not rely on a position of the sheet sent by the supply roller and the pair of feed-in rollers during the continuous feeding mode.
