A weather strip having an insert and exhibiting a large holding force against a flange, includes a trim portion and a sealing portion. The trim portion has an outer holding lip formed to extend from an interior surface of an outer side wall, and an inner holding lip formed to extend from an interior surface of an inner side wall, and the insert is embedded in the trim portion. The insert is formed from a band-shaped metallic plate such that a large number of insert pieces, each having a rectangular configuration, extend in a width direction of the band-shaped metallic plate, and are joined in the vicinity of ends of the insert pieces with joining parts in a longitudinal direction of the band-shaped metallic plate into a ladder-shaped configuration. Slits are formed between adjacent insert pieces.

Weather strip for motor vehicle

A weatherstrip includes: a trim portion and a seal portion. The trim portion includes: a main body portion including a first and second side wall portions provided on a vehicle outer side and a vehicle inner side, respectively; a first and second holding lips extending from the first and second side wall portions, respectively; and a first extended wall portion extending from a distal end portion of the first side wall portion. In a trim portion attaching direction, a distal end portion of the first side wall portion is positioned at, or on the weatherstrip inner circumferential side of, a boundary portion between the trim portion and an inner circumferential surface of the seal portion, and a distal end portion of the second side wall portion is positioned on the weatherstrip inner circumferential side of a distal end portion of the first extended wall portion.

A weather striphas a trim portionand a hollow seal portion. The trim portionis made up of an external sidewall, a bottom walland an internal sidewallto thereby be given a substantially U-shaped cross section. A first flange holding lipis formed on an interior surface of either of the external sidewalland the internal sidewallso as to be positioned on an opening side of the trim portion, a second flange holding lipis formed on the interior surface of the same sidewall so as to be positioned on a bottom wall side of the trim portion, and opposite flange holding lipsare formed on an interior surface of the other of the external sidewalland the internal sidewallso as to be positioned between the first flange holding lipand the second flange holding lipwhile extending therefrom.

A method for producing a weather strip, includes an extrusion step for extruding a non-vulcanized and non-foamed rubber into a predetermined shape, a coating step for coating a treatment liquid containing a simple sulfur, a sulfur compound, or both of the simple sulfur and the sulfur compound on an outer surface of a sealing part of a non-vulcanized and non-foamed intermediate molded body that is molded by the extrusion step, and a vulcanizing and foaming step for forming a skin layer in a non-foamed state by heating and vulcanizing a surface of the treatment liquid, and forming a sponge layer by vulcanizing and foaming the non-vulcanized and non-foamed rubber that is internal from the skin layer by passing the intermediate molded body on which the treatment liquid has been coated during the coating step through a heating zone, the steps being performed when molding the extruded part.

Method of producing a weather strip

A weather strip is provided in which the trim portion does not have an insert member embedded, a notch or a thin wall portions are formed in a portion near the bottom wall of the vehicle exterior sidewall and the vehicle interior sidewall, a thick wall portion is formed in the further front end than the thin wall portion, and both the front ends are inclined so as to approach each other. Two of each of flange holding lips are formed on each of the inner surfaces of both sidewalls; and the angle at which the flange holding lips of the opening side are projected is formed larger than the angle of the flange holding lips of the bottom wall side; the front ends of the flange holding lips of the opening side are formed so as to be contact with or close to each other; the front ends of the flange holding lipsandof the bottom wall side are linearly formed to have a gap in the width direction or in a direction orthogonal to the width direction.

An insert with a light weight per unit length, which is securely separable to obtain insert pieces, a method for producing such an insert, and a method for producing long products using such an insert. The insert includes a large number of insert pieces and joining parts formed by the application of a rolling operation and a tension force, and has a ladder-shaped configuration. Slits are defined between adjacent insert pieces, and include first slits, each having a large width in a longitudinal direction of the insert, and second slits, each having a width smaller than that of the first slits so as to be alternately formed. The joining parts include first joining parts, each having a small width in a width direction of the insert, and second joining parts, each having a width larger than that of the first joining parts so as to be alternately formed. The width ratio of the insert pieces, the first slits and the second slits in the longitudinal direction is determined to 100:(65&#x2dc;104):(24&#x2dc;53), whereas the width ratio of the first joining parts to the second joining parts in the width direction is determined to 20:(28&#x2dc;33).

Insert, method for producing the same, and method for producing long product provided with the same

A door weather strip includes an attaching base part that is attached along an outer periphery of a door frame and a hollow seal part that is extended in an outer peripheral direction of a door from the attaching base part. The attaching base partincludes a base bottom part, a vehicle inner side wall part and a vehicle outer side wall part and a partition wall. Both the attaching base part and the seal part are made of the same EPDM sponge rubber material by an extrusion process. The door weather strip satisfies conditions that a specific gravity is 0.36 or higher and 0.44 or lower, a low stretch stress is 200 kPa or higher and 230 kPa or lower and an average foaming cell diameter is 180 &#x3bc;m or larger and 220 &#x3bc;m or smaller.

Door weather strip

A glass run includes a main body portion and a pair of seal lips. Further, the glass run is constituted by a vehicle exterior side molded member and a vehicle interior side molded member divided at a bottom portion of the main body portion. Further, the vehicle exterior side molded member and the vehicle interior side molded member include engaging portions for engaging to be integrated with each other. By integrating the vehicle exterior side molded member and the vehicle interior side molded member by the engaging portions, the vehicle exterior side molded member is restricted from being shifted to move relative to the vehicle interior side molded member in a vehicle width direction and in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle interior side molded member.
