[Problem] Provided is a crystalline wholly aromatic polyester which is a polycondensate of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aromatic diol and method for manufacture thereof. [Solving means] A crystalline wholly aromatic polyester according to the present invention is a polycondensate of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aromatic diol, wherein a structual unit derived from the aromatic dicarboxylic acid comprises a structural unit represented by formula (1): and wherein a structual unit derived from aromatic diol comprises a structural unit represented by formula (4):

An optical film comprising a copolycarbonate composed of 25 to 90 mol % of unit (A) of the following formula, and 10 to 75 mol % of unit (B) of the following formula, wherein the substituents are defined herein, and the optical film satisfies the following expression (1), R(450)&#x3c;R(550)&#x3c;R(650) (1), wherein R(450), R(550) and R(650) are in-plane retardation values of the film at wavelengths of 450 nm, 550 nm and 650 nm. The optical film exhibits a desired chromatic dispersion, low photoelasticity and excellent melt processability.

A resin composition, and molded articles thereof, where the resin composition simultaneously satisfies resistances, such as heat and environmental resistance, and moldability at high levels, and has excellent optical properties, such as high refractivity and low birefringence. The infrared absorption filter comprises a polycarbonate resin which contains 20 to 100 mol % of a recurring unit having a fluorene skeleton represented by the formula (1) and 0 to 80 mol % of a recurring unit represented by the formula (2), and a coloring matter having infrared absorptivity.
