A method of properly aligning a sliding side door on a vehicle includes first preparing a prototype vehicle and determining how far out of alignment the door is to the body of the prototype vehicle. This amount of misalignment is then used to adjust the attachment position of an anchor plate to a sliding side door of the vehicle, so that the anchor plate is attached at a desired position to the production vehicle, which causes there to be no misalignment between the sliding side door and the body of the production vehicle. A jig is used to hold the anchor plate at the desired location while welding the anchor plate to the door. A roller assembly is then attached to the anchor plate and to a rail on a body of the vehicle.

In an opening/closing operation device for a vehicle open/close door, a handle and a lever for transmitting an unlock operation force to a latch mechanism are turnably supported by an open/close door, and one end portion of the lever is brought into contact with a contact surface formed in the handle. A harness routing structure for a sliding door includes harnesses that are routed between a vehicle body and a sliding door, and a guiding device that is provided along the harnesses and that guides the harnesses, wherein the guiding device has at the ends thereof installation portions that are respectively installed on the vehicle body and the sliding door, and a torsion-permitting portion for permitting twisting of the harnesses is provided along the harnesses in the installation portions.

The apparatus records information by irradiating a laser beam onto a recording medium and forming marks on the disc. Prior to the actual recording, the controller performs a test recording in which predetermined test recording data is recorded on the recording medium. In the test, data is recorded by generating a recording pulse signal based on the recording data and thereby driving a light source. While the test recording is performed, the level of a cooling pulse in the recording pulse signal is varied. Then, the test recorded data is reproduced to generate a reproduced signal. A waveform of the reproduced signal is evaluated, and a cooling level that provides a target asymmetry value is set as an optimum cooling level. Thus, the subsequent actual recording can be performed according to the optimum cooling level determined based on characteristics of the recording medium to be used for the actual recording.

In a further embodiment having a construction in which a writing drive current is superposed on a reading drive signal in the form of pulses and a voltage proportional to a writing power is subtracted from an error signal in a servo system, an influences of a writing data component on the operation of the servo system is eliminated by effecting a level shift to the voltage by a predetermined level and subtracting the voltage after the level shift from the error signal.
