A packaged battery, an assembled battery, and a film-covered battery, which can prevent a dangerous state involving a high-pressure gas filled in the film-covered battery while ensuring a sealing reliability, are provided. The Packaged battery includes film-covered batteryincluding a battery element and exterior films forming a sealed space housing the battery element, and holding memberholding film-covered battery. The sealed space includes a housing section housing the battery element, and a pocket communicating with the housing section to expand when the pressure in the sealed space increases. The pocket includes a safety valve which activates when the pocket expands. Holding memberincludes an opening and a cavity fitting the housing section therein. When the housing section is fitted into the cavity, at least part of the pocket and the safety valve protrude to the outside of the holding member from the opening.

Packaged battery, stacked battery assembly, and film-covered battery

A battery element () includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode stacked via a separator. A collector portion () is formed by collectively bonding each of positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates which extend outward from this stacked region. Laminated films () are obtained by laminating a thermally-fusible resin layer and a metal layer, and by sealing the battery element () and electrolyte by thermally fusing sealing portion () at a peripheral edge. A tab () is connected to collector portion () and extends outward from the laminated films (). An overlaying member () includes a protective region () which protects the laminated films () from corners () of the battery element (), corners () of the collector portion () and corners () of the tab (), and a communication portion () through which electrolyte can pass.

A portable device includes an upper unit, a lower unit having an operation section on an operation surface, and a movable connecting mechanism which connects the upper unit and the lower unit. The movable connecting mechanism includes a rotating hinge including a rotation axis which is securely and rotatably provided to the lower unit and which protrudes from the operation surface in a direction substantially normal to the operation surface, a projection protruding outward from the rotation axis, and a stopping member provided at a location where the projection comes in contact with the stopping member due to rotation of the rotation axis. The stopping member is movable within a predetermined range of movement due to the projection coming in contact with the stopping member.

A portable telephone set of slide type comprises a main casing, a movable casing, the two casing being slidably coupled and capable of being locked to each other, and a lock releasing element for releasing the lock. A portable communication apparatus includes a main housing having at least a display section and an operation section and a movable housing that is engaged with the main housing slidably in a longitudinal direction between a retracted state and an extended state. The main housing and the movable housing are urged in an extension direction and are releasably locked in the retracted state. A portion of the display section is covered and protected by the movable housing when retracted. An optical aperture for optical function is provided in the main housing and its optical function is made operable when extended.

A film-covered electric device has an electric device element and casing films. The casing films include a sealing area formed by thermally fusing the facing surfaces of the casing films together around the periphery of the electric device element, an electric device element receiving part encapsulating the electric device element inside the sealing area, and unfused portions formed in the shape of cove communicating with the electric device element receiving part. The casing films further include a stress concentrating portion touching the unfused portions for concentrating thereon the peeling stress of the casing films generated at the sealing area by the expansion of the electric device element receiving part, and a pressure releasing part is formed in the stress concentrating portion.

The portable information terminal includes the upper unit having the display screen in either of the upper or lower surfaces and the lower unit having the operation surface in either upper or lower surfaces coupled for opening and closing and for pivoting. The portable information terminal has a detector which detects variation of relative attitude of the upper unit and the lower unit, for externally announcing variation of relative attitude of the upper unit and the lower unit as detected by the detector.
