In an endoscope apparatus including a processor, the processor specifies the position of a specific region and sets a reference scale in a picked-up image that is obtained from the image pickup of a subject on which the specific region formed by auxiliary measurement light is formed. Then, the processor extracts a region of interest, determines a measurement portion, calculates a measured value obtained from the measurement of the measurement portion, on the basis of the reference scale, and generates a measured value marker using the measured value. Further, the processor creates a specific image in which the measured value marker is superimposed on the picked-up image.

A captured image including a specific region formed by auxiliary measurement light is acquired, a marker direction candidate position is detected on the basis of region-of-interest edge information extracted from the captured image and specified distance position information, a candidate distance from the position of the specific region to the marker direction candidate position is calculated, and a length measurement image in which a display marker, which passes through a part of an extension line passing through the marker direction candidate position, which forms a candidate distance equal to or larger than a specified distance from the position of the specific region, is superimposed on the captured image with the position of the specific region as a base point, is created and displayed.

Endoscope system and endoscope system operation method

An auxiliary measurement light-emitting unit emits auxiliary measurement light that is planar light including at least two first feature lines. A taken image obtained through the imaging of a subject includes an intersection curve and at least two first spots that are formed at positions corresponding to first feature lines on the intersection curve. Measurement information representing the actual size of the subject is displayed in the taken image by using the positions of the first spots.

Endoscope apparatus

A light source device for an endoscope system comprises a light source unit, which collects light with a lens and allows the collected light to enter a light guide provided to an endoscope. The light source device comprises a receiving unit and a lens barrel (movable unit). The receiving unit receives insertion of the light guide. The receiving unit is attached to the lens barrel. The lens barrel moves in a direction perpendicular to a direction of the insertion of the light guide, in accordance with a force received by the receiving unit from the light guide. The light source unit applies collimated light to the lens. The lens is attached to the lens barrel and moves together with the receiving unit and the lens barrel, and makes at least a part of the collimated light enter the light guide.
