An electrical device includes a board; a cable including one end portion electrically connected to the board; a component fixing device for fixing a component through which the cable passes; and a fixing portion for fixing the component fixing device. The component fixing device includes a holding portion for holding the component and a fixed portion fixed to the fixing portion. Further, the holding portion includes a hook claw disposed at a distal end portion thereof, a hole portion for receiving a base portion of the hook claw and engaging with the distal end portion, an attaching portion for attaching the component, a first movement restriction member for restricting a movement of the component in a direction that the cable extends, and a second movement restriction member for restricting a movement of the component in a direction perpendicular to the direction that the cable extends.

Electrical device

A scanner is mounted on a printer. A printer lid is pivotally mounted to the printer, and is moveable to open and close. A scanner lid is pivotally mounted to the scanner, and is moveable to open and close. A printer locking member and a scanner locking member are pivotally mounted to the scanner. Opening the scanner lid causes the printer locking member to pivot to lock the scanner to the printer. Opening the printer lid causes the scanner locking member to pivot to lock the scanner lid to the scanner. A scanner having a lid is pivotally mounted on a printer. When the lid is pivoted to open, a stopper may pivot together with the lid and abut the scanner, thereby stopping the lid. The stopper may pivot together with the lid and the scanner and abuts the printer, stopping the lid and the scanner.

An image formation apparatus includes a first unit and a second unit connected with each other, a first exterior cover covering a part of the first unit, a second exterior cover covering a part of the second unit and formed with a cover main body and an extension extending from the cover main body. A third exterior cover is provided between the first exterior cover and the second exterior cover and overlaps with while contacting the extension of the second exterior cover.

A component fixing device includes a holding portion for holding a component with a hollow portion while restricting a movement of the component; and a fixed portion elastically connected to the holding portion and to be fixed to an object. The holding portion is inserted into the hollow portion of the component for holding the component. The holding portion may have a center holding portion abutting against an outer surface of the component and a pair of arm portions disposed at both sides of the center holding portion and capable of bending relative to the center holding portion, so that the center holding portion and the arm portions sandwich the component.

An image reading apparatus includes an image reader, a document feeder, and a document retainer. A document feeder feeds the document to the image reader, and the image reader reads an image of a document. The document feeder discharges the document onto a stacker after the image of the document has been read. The document feeder is pivotal relative to the image reader. When the document feeder opens relative to the reader at an angle, the document retainer presses the document against the stacker.

A medium conveying apparatus for conveying a recording medium includes an apparatus body and a conveying control unit. A paper feeding unit is detachable mounted to the apparatus body and includes a record medium enclosing section and a paper feeding section. First and second conveying sections are downstream from the paper feeding section. A third conveying section is between the paper feeding section and the first conveying section. The conveying control unit controls the third conveying section to convey the record medium before the front edge of the record medium arrives at the first conveying section, controls the first and the third conveying sections to convey the record medium before the front edge of the record medium arrives at the second conveying section and stops the third conveying section from operating after the front edge of the record medium arrives at the second conveying section.

A packet including data and a cyclic redundancy check code is encoded by using a selectable one of N scrambling codes (N&#x3e;1). The encoded packet is transmitted and received, then decoded N times by using the N scrambling codes. The cyclic redundancy check code is used to decide which one of the N scrambling codes enabled the encoded packet to be decoded correctly, and the correctly decoded data are used. Packets with different formats, in particular with headers of different lengths, can be distinguished by the use of different scrambling codes, so that different formats can be employed without the need to transmit extra data to indicate which format has been used.

A cyclic code is generated by a circuit including a group of logic gates that generate one multiple-bit code segment from another multiple-bit code segment. The logic gates receive B initial bits, where B is the degree of the generator polynomial, and generate one complete (2&#x2212;1)-bit code cycle, from which a clocked address generator and a barrel shifter select successive C-bit segments for output (C&#x3e;1). This arrangement outputs C bits of code per clock pulse and therefore does not require a special high-frequency clock signal.

Apparatus for interleave and method thereof

A soft-output decoder that uses a-priori likelihood values to compute metrics while decoding a received data stream also uses the a-priori likelihood values to decide whether or not to compute the metrics for each position in the received data stream. Unnecessary computation can thereby be avoided, saving time and power. In an iterated soft-output decoding scheme, the soft-output decoder may decide whether or not to compute metrics for each position in the next iteration of the soft-output decoding process. These decisions may also be used to decide when to terminate the decoding process.

Decoded image converting circuitry includes a display image compression circuit to which image data are input in the form of consecutive macroblocks. The compression circuit compresses each macroblock, a sequence of sixteen horizontal image data at a time, with a preselected compression ratio. The compressed image data representative of an I (Intra coded) picture and a P (Predictive coded) picture are written to a first memory while the compressed image data representative of a B (Bidirectionally predictive coded) picture are written to a second memory. The image data stored in the first and second memories each is read out at a preselected timing allowing raster scan data to be formed. A display image expansion circuit expands the compressed I and P pictures and B picture and thereby outputs raster scan data. An apparatus including the decoded image converting circuitry and a method practicable with the apparatus are also disclosed.

Circuitry and apparatus for converting a decoded image with a macroblock/raster scan conversion capability

A first clock and a second clock are provided. The first and second clocks operate at first and second frequencies, respectively. The phase difference between the first clock and the second clock is accumulated to generate a control signal. In response to the control signal, the phase of the second clock is controlled so as to synchronize with the first clock. Preferably, the phase of the second clock is shifted from the normal timing, when the accumulated value reaches a cycle of the first clock.
