A terminal includes a body portion formed in a major arc cylindrical shape in which a gap is formed between two edges in the circumferential direction or an overlapping cylindrical shape in which the two edges in the circumferential direction overlap each other, such that a cylindrical space is formed inside the body portion, and locking portions disposed on at least one side out of the back side and the front side in the insertion direction of the body portion and having base pieces that extend from the body portion toward the back side in the insertion direction or the front side in the insertion direction and locking pieces that are provided on the base pieces. The body portion has at least one projecting portion projecting toward the outside. A connection structure includes the terminal, a connected object and a mounting member. It is possible to cause the terminal to which the connected object is attached to stand on its own relative to the mounting member, and to ensure the thickness of a solder layer between the terminal with the connected object and a through hole.

The DIP connector of the present invention comprises a housing being provided with a receiving chamber into which a counterpart member being to be fitted, and a contact being fitted in a storing concaved part being concaved from the receiving chamber. The storing concaved part is bounded by a bottom wall, and a first wall and a second wall on both the ends in a width direction and third walls on both sides in a depth direction, of the housing. The bottom wall is provided with a support wall dividing the storing concaved part into a first concaved part and a second concaved part. The contact comprises a bent part straddling on the support wall and one end, in the width direction, of said bent part being to be fitted, in the first concaved part, an intermediate part extending in the width direction from the bent part and being to be stored in the second concaved part, a spring piece rising from the intermediate part in the height direction, and a lead being provided on the fitted-in part of the bent part or on the intermediate part, penetrating the bottom wall and extending.

A female contact comprises a tube-shaped socket having a male-contact accommodation space, and a flat spring held in the socket so as to apply elastic force to a male contact. A notch is formed at a male-contact inlet of the socket. A hook formed at one end of the flat spring is engaged with the notch, so that the flat spring is latched at the male-contact inlet.

A high-pressure discharge lamp includes: an arc tube that is made from a translucent ceramic material and composed of a main-tube part in which a discharge space is formed and thin-tube parts extending from both ends of the main-tube part; and a pair of electrodes having rods respectively extending from the two thin-tube parts into the discharge space so that the tops face each other with a distance in-between. The rod of at least one of the electrodes is held by a tubular electrode holder made of a halide-resistant metal embedded in and bonded to the thin-tube part via an adhesive agent including a sintered halide-resistant metal impregnated with mixture glass. The electrode holder is at such a position that satisfies &ldquo;L&gE;0.012P&plus;2.5 &lsqb;mm&rsqb;&rdquo;, where &ldquo;L&rdquo; is distance &lsqb;mm&rsqb; between the electrode top and one end of the electrode holder closer to the discharge space, and &ldquo;P&rdquo; is lamp wattage &lsqb;W&rsqb;.

High-pressure discharge lamp

A high pressure discharge lamp is provided with an arc tube and a starter. The starter includes a ferroelectric ceramic capacitor element with non-linear characteristics an a semiconductor switching element, connected in parallel to the arc tube. A pulse stopping thermally-actuated switch is connected in series to the ferroelectric ceramic capacitor element and is operated to OFF by heating of a heating resistor in a non-lighted state of the lamp. Without accompanying reduction of a starting function due to a temperature rise of the ferroelectric ceramic capacitor element, a safety function against a non-lighted state of the lamp is provided.

High pressure discharge lamp

A mechanical seal rotary joint of the end-face contact type which permits slurry fluids, such as polishing solution, to pass through a fluid passage without leaking out of the relatively rotating contact area therein. The rotary joint of the present invention comprises: a first joint body ( ); a second joint body ( ) connected rotatably to the first joint body ( ); a prime seal unit ( ) provided between the opposed end portions ( ) of the two joint bodies ( ); and a continuous line of prime fluid passage ( ). The prime seal unit ( ) is a mechanical seal comprising: a stationary seal ring ( ) fixed on the end portion ( ) of the second joint body ( ) concentrically with the axis of rotation as its center; a movable seal ring ( ) held on the end portion ( ) of the first joint body ( ) and concentric with and opposite to the stationary seal ring ( ); a rotation stopper ( ) provided on the outer circumferential side of the movable seal ring ( ) for preventing the relative rotation of the seal ring ( ) while allowing the seal ring ( ) to move in the axial direction; and springs ( ) to thrust and press the movable seal ring ( ) against the stationary seal ring ( ). Thus, the prime seal unit ( ) is constructed so as to provide a seal between the inner circumferential region ( ) and the outer circumferential region ( ) of the two seal rings ( ). The prime fluid passage ( ) is made up of the inner circumferential regions ( ) of the two seal ring ( ), a first primary passage section ( ) passing through the first joint body ( ) and leading into the inner circumferential region ( ) and a second prime fluid passage section ( ) passing through the second joint body ( ) and leading into the inner circumferential region ( ). A slurry fluid ( ), such as a polishing solution, flows through the prime fluid passage ( ) without leaking out of the relatively rotating section of the joint bodies ( ).

Rotary joint

An electrode is fixed hermetically to one end of a conductive tube with a titanium solder and the other end of the conductive tube is closed. Thus, the conductive tube has an airtight structure and an argon gas is sealed therein. This conductive tube is fixed hermetically to a transparent alumina tube using a sealer. Further, sodium amalgam is provided at an inner end of the transparent alumina tube. The conductive tube is prevented from being deformed and sodium of a luminescent material is positioned inside the discharge tube, thus providing a high-pressure sodium lamp in which a lighting color and lamp voltage are prevented from varying during the lamp lifetime, the time required for reaching a stable lighting state after turning on the lamp is short, and the variation in lamp voltage is suppressed.

A rotary joint for fluids that provides a completely sealed path for the flow of polishing solution and which permits the supply of electricity to a polished surface detector. The rotary joint of the present invention is essentially made up of a joint block (,) and a rotator assembly (,). To the rotator assembly (,) rotatably held in the joint block (,) is attached a polishing pad shaft (,). Between the joint block (,) and the rotator assembly (,) is formed a seal space closed by a pair of seal units (,), each comprising sealing rings (,) which rotate in relation to each other. A fluid passage (,) continuous via a seal space (,) and running through the joint block (,) and the rotator assembly (,) is formed, and a wiring conduit running from an electric source unit (,) to the polished surface detector on the polishing pad (,) is also formed. The wiring conduit comprises a rotary connector unit (,) made up of a casing (,) and a first connector (,) supported by the rotator assembly (,) and a second connector (,) held by the joint block (,) with the two connectors (,) electrically connected to each other and relatively rotatable, electric wiring (,) running from the power unit (,) to the second connector (,), and electric wiring (,) running from the first connector (,) to the polished surface detector (,) through a wiring conduit (,) formed in the rotator assembly (,).

Rotary joint for fluid

A space between a housing and a rotator is hermetically sealed with a double-mechanical seal. A pair of rotary seal rings are sandwiched between a pair of stationary seal rings while sandwiching therebetween a stopper ring for inhibition of relative rotation between the rotary seal rings and the rotator. A spring is interposed in a space between the stopper and each of the rotary seal rings for pressing each rotary seal ring against the corresponding stationary seal ring.
