A method for making an enameled steel sheet includes the steps of spraying a slurry to form a slurry layer onto a surface of a substrate and firing the slurry layer. In this method, the slurry has a static surface tension of 50 dyne/cm or less and an apparent viscosity of 500 mPa&middot;s that is measured with a model E viscometer at a rotation of 100 rpm. Alternatively, the method includes a step of spraying a slurry for forming an enamel layer onto a surface of a substrate, wherein the substrate is vibrated when the slurry is applied or when the slurry applied is still fluid.

Method for making enameled steel sheet

A method of solidifying a steel-making slag is performed by subjecting a mixture of a steel-making slag containing at least about 50% by weight of a powdery steel-making slag having a particle size not greater than about 5 mm and a substance containing at least about 30% by weight of SiO (e.g., a fly ash and/or the fine powder of a granulated blast furnace slag) to a hydration reaction. The resulting solidified material contains at least about 20% of a tobermorite phase, has high strength and is suitable as an inorganic material useful as a roadbed material, building and civil engineering materials, etc.

An industrially useful process for the production of an aromatic hydroxy compound which comprises reacting an aromatic sulfonic acid alkali metal salt and/or an aromatic sulfonic acid with an alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of a surface active agent, wherein the reaction is effected by uniformly dispersing these-materials in a reaction medium selected from aliphatic, alicyclic and aromatic hydrocarbons. By employing this process, the product can be obtained with high purity, high yield and high selectivity using a minimum amount of the alkali metal hydroxide.
